According to the July 10 report from Nielsen Korea, the KBS 2 drama "Masked Prosecutor" recorded its highest ratings to date, for the series finale. "Masked Prosecutor" received 6.9 percent of nationwide viewers, beating out its previous record of 5.9 percent.

The drama struggled with ratings, before becoming the center of controversy as it reached its conclusion. Series star Kim Sun Ah took to social media, expressing her frustration with filming delays, but the production team discounted her claims.

"Masked Prosecutor" recorded 0.1 percent higher viewership than the second episode of the MBC supernatural period drama, "Scholar Who Walks the Night." KBS' "Scholar Who Walks the Night" recorded 6.8 percent of nationwide viewers.

"Scholar Who Walks the Night" opened with bookseller Jo Yang Sun (Lee Yoo Bi) exploring the entertainment house where Crown Prince Lee Yoon (TVXQ's Changmin) renders lustful drawings of courtesans. Yang Sun is a woman who disguises herself to illegally sell books. Her identity is almost revealed by the king's guard when they raid the house of ill repute but she is saved from their inquisition by Kim Seung Yeol (Lee Joon Gi).

The premise of the title was revealed in the episode, as Yang Sun spoke of the fabled scholar who walks the night, a mythical being who uses his powers to deliver social justice. At the conclusion of the episode, she realizes Seung Yeol could be the magical scholar.

The SBS melodrama "Mask" provided further explanation of the grudge that motivates Min Seok Hoon and his evil plot. "Mask" increased its ratings from its previous episode by 1 percent, recording 11.1 percent of nationwide viewers.
