The next role for Moon Chae Won may be playing a tough girl out for revenge in the melodrama "Goodbye Mr. Black."

When she was recently interviewed with Lee Min Ho at the 19th Bucheon International Film Festival she was asked what kind of role she would like to do next. She was there to be honored her film "Love Today," which she appeared in with co-star Lee Seung Gi.

"I would like it to be a melodrama," said Moon. "I would also like for the film to have physical, action."

Moon now has a chance to make at least half of her drama wish come true. "Goodbye Mr. Black" is a melodrama that might contain some action.

The SBS Wednesday- Thursday drama is based on the 80s manhwa by Hwang Mi Na, which in turn was inspired by the classic Alexandre Dumas novel "The Count of Monte Cristo."

The actress is currently reading the script. If she takes the role she will play a woman who meets the drama's hero in Australia, returns with him to England and helps him get revenge on the best friend and lover who betrayed him. Their betrayal leads him to spend some time in jail.

Locations in England and Australia are currently being studied.

Moon Hee Jung, who wrote the dark drama "Can You Hear My Heart" and the tear-wrenching melodrama "I Miss You," starring Park Yoo Chun and Yoon Eun Hye, has written the screenplay for "Goodbye Mr. Black.

Lee Chang Min, who directed "Birth of a Beauty,' will direct the drama.

The drama will follow "The Village," which is due to end in December.

Moon Chae Won first attracted attention for her supporting role in "Painter of the Wind," whgich co-starred Moon Geun Young. She next appeared in "Brilliant Legacy" with her "Love Today" co-star Lee Seung Gi. She appeared in the period drama "The Princess' Man" and the film "War of Arrows." Her most recent drama appearances were playing a cold-hearted woman in the highly rated melodrama "Nice Guy," with Song Joong Ki, and playing a compassionate doctor in the hit medical drama "Good Doctor," with co-star Joo Won.

Another recent drama based on a work by Alexandre Dumas was "The Three Musketeers," starring Lee Jin Wook and CNBLUE's Jung Yong Hwa. Although the story was set in Korea, that drama did not do well in the ratings and abbreviated its intended run. It will be interesting to see how whether drama based on a manhwa adaptation of a Dumas novel does better than just a drama adaptation of a Dumas novel.
