In his new film, "The Suspect," actor Gong Yoo will play a North Korean spy who was abandoned by his government and defects to the south. The spy, Ji Dong Cheol, spends all of his free time looking for the man who murdered his wife and child. To earn money, he drives a car for Chairman Park, but one day the chairman is attacked. The chairman hands Dong Cheol some glasses and dies. Dong Cheol becomes a murder suspect and he must run. On top of looking for the man who killed his family, he must try to prove his innocence and uncover the secret of the glasses. He does not know that the glasses hold a secret so powerful it could undermine a nation.

Also starring in the film is Park Hee Soon, who appeared in "All About My Romance." Park will play Min Se Hoon, a South Korean colonel who chases Dong Cheol.

The actress You Da In plays Choi Gyung Hee, the director of a North Korean documentary. You Da In appeared in the 2012 drama "Tasty Life" and was also in the drama "Biscuit Teacher and Star Candy" with Gong Yoo. Jo Sung Ha plays Kim Seok Ho, a National Intelligence Service director who is involved in the murder case. Jo Sung Ha is currently appearing in "Gu Family Book" as Dam Pyeong Joon. He also appeared in "Iris II" as President Ha Seung Jin.

Gong Yoo became a Hallyu star thanks to his role as Choi Han Kyul, the coffee shop owner in "The First Shop of the Coffee Prince." The comedy, in which Han Kyul falls for a girl disguised as a boy, was one of the most watched kdramas in 2007. Gong Yoo also appeared in the comedy "Big," in which he played a doctor who swaps bodies with a student. He played the doctor and the 18-year-old student trapped in his own body.

Gong Yoo previously starred in "Silenced," a film that sparked legislative action in Korea. In that film, he played a teacher who uncovered sexual and physical abuse against students in a school for the deaf. The film was based on a novel, which covered actual events that took place in the 2000s. The movie provoked such a strong sense of outrage that it led to changes in the prosecution of such crimes.

"The Suspect" is scheduled for release in August.
