Hwang Jung Eum Is Less Attractive In Teasers For 'She Was Pretty'
On September 4, MBC released a montage of teaser photos and preview footage depicting an unattractive side of Hwang Jung Eum for the upcoming drama, "She Was Pretty."
Previous photos and footage depicted the 30-year-old actress with her natural beauty, while the latest teasers focus on the image cultivated for "She Was Pretty."
The preview opens with young Kim Hye Jin (Jung Da Bin) and Ji Sung Joon (Yang Han Yeol). Sung Joon is overweight and unpopular while Hye Jin is a beautiful teen. In the future, Hye Jin (Hwang Jung Eum) is a frumpy, unstylish woman. Once the daughter of a flourishing publisher, she is forced to wear cheap clothes and sports a blunt haircut.
By contrast, Sung Joon (Park Seo Joon) is handsome and styled in fashionable clothing. As the preview unfurls, Hye Jin encounters Kim Shin Hyuk (Super Junior's Choi Siwon). Shin Hyuk is the direct supervisor of Hye Jin who slowly develops romantic feelings for her.
In recent years, Hwang Jung Eum has been cast in roles that paint her in a less than glamorous light. In the 2013 series, "Secret Love," she portrayed Kang Yoo Jung, an ex-con who was convicted of vehicular homicide. In her upcoming film, "My Sister, the Pig Lady," she is Jae Hwa, a young woman who attempts to become a successful pig farmer.
"She Was Pretty" premieres on MBC on September 16. The series will air in the 9:55 p.m. KST time slot currently occupied by "Scholar Who Walks the Night."
