Marvel's Jessica Jones will star in the next series from Marvel and Netflix after the successful debut of DareDevil earlier in April, reported The Washington Post. Netflix has announced the premiere date of its next Marvel series Jessica Jones, starring Krysten Ritter as the titular former superhero-turned-private detective, Mike Colter as Luke Cage (who gets his own series in 2016), and David Tennant as Kilgrave, aka Purple Man.

As earlier teasers of Netflix, this one too has not revealed any actual footage of the show but only revealed the official premiere date of all 13 episodes to be: November 20, stated Wired.com. Jessica had been one of the most low key superheroes amongst the Marvel characters. The plot centers on Jones as a New York City detective and former super hero who finds herself on cases involving people with "extraordinary abilities," said Engadget. The new trailer lends an insight into into Marvel superhero's debut that will conclude with the lead character of each show uniting to form "The Defenders."

The show runner for "Jessica Jones" is Melissa Rosenberg, a veteran of Showtime's "Dexter" and the "Twilight" films. Earlier during the TCA Press Tour, Rosenberg had commented that Jessica Jones will be quite different from 'DareDevil' series showcasing the cinematic universe and its mythology in an altogether different perspective, said the Washington Post.

A second batch of episodes is also being filmed that is slated for a Spring 2016 release. The story involves a blind lawyer that turns vigilante. A fourth series spotlighting Iron Fist is also in the works. The four will eventually band together in a "Defenders" event series that borrows a page from Marvel's successful movie strategy uniting its Iron Man, Captain America and Thor franchises for the studio's "Avengers" flicks, reported NY Daily News
