When Suzy Bae began filming "Gu Family Book," the producer Park Tae Young made a comment about how carefully the actress and Lee Seung Gi were studying their scripts. Hers was covered with notes on colorful post-its.

"Lee Seung Gi and Suzy never let go of their scripts until shooting started. They looked over their scenes carefully and pulled through long rehearsals," said Park. "It takes longer than average to finish shooting a scene this way but it accounts for much of the drama's quality."

The miss A singer-turned-actress was nervous about doing a good job, but her concern and the care she exercised while filming the drama paid off big time. Her performance as Dam Yeo Wool, the heroine of "Gu Family Book" has earned nothing but praise and made her an even bigger star.

Unwilling to take all the credit for herself, she complimented fellow members of the cast.

"I learned a lot from this drama," said Suzy. "Because I was taken care of by many people such as the director and my fellow actors and actresses, I became more confident. It was easy to act out Yeo Wol because she is so much like me."

She made a special point of thanking co-star Lee Seung Gi, who played half-beast Choi Kang Chi, and the drama's director.

"The director didn't say much but whenever he told me that I did well at the end of a scene, I felt so good, I couldn't even sleep. I felt like Yeo Wol for real and Sung Gi looked like Kang Chi too."

After one scene in which she displayed a sword fighting technique known as the Cherry Blossom, she even got some compliments on her fighting style.

"People complimented me on how naturally I seemed to move the sword," she said. "I practiced that scene countless times. Afterward, my legs just started to feel shaky. The hardest part is that you are supposed to stay focused on your opponent's face but if you do that your face looks strange."

Athough the drama involved many fight scenes and much choreography, the actress said she did not feel tired by it.

"I am so grateful that so many people loved what I did," said Suzy, who was previously seen in the dramas "Dream High" and "Big."

Aside from appearing in "Gu Family Book," Suzy also contributed a song to the soundtrack.
