iOS 9 New Features Update: 'Major Security Flaws Still Remain,' Say Critics

Apple released its new iOS 9 update earlier this month for its iPhone users. Most users reported bugs in the system after which Apple also released its iOS 9.0.1 update. However, bugs and problems still remain unfixed, revealed The Week.

Some of the common flaws reported included a lock screen flaw that allows unauthorized entry to iPhones and iPads without a password. Moreover, iOS 9 also locked up users' iPhones, iPads and iPod touches. Many users were left locked out at the earliest possible opportunity: the point of upgrade. So far Apple has issued an official statement that the only way to work around the problem is to restore your phone from iTunes after a forced restart said Forbes. 

The iOS 9.0.1 update fixed problems including a major fault with the "Slide to upgrade" feature that prohibited some users from being able to switch from iOS 8 to iOS 9. The new update also resolved several other issues such as a problem that stops some alarms and timers from going off, video playback in Safari and Photos app plus problem with mobile data network settings. However, according to the critics some major security flaws still remain.

Further, few users also reported that new version of Apple's software appears to slow down the iPhone 4S, 5 and 5S in side-by-side tests. However, disabling certain features may speed things up but the new iOS definitely slows up older models, said The Guardian.

Apple revealed that more than 50% of the iOS users have already updated their models within a week of the release of the new OS that works on models from 2011's iPhone 4s onwards. Videos from vLoggers have also revealed online comparison of speed of iOS 9.0.1 software phones to be slower than iPhone 8.4.1 handsets.
