Moon Geun Young Did Not Know Yook Sung Jae's Band

Moon Geun Young and BtoB's Yook Sung Jae will co-star in the upcoming drama "The Village - Achiara's Secret."

On October 6 the 28-year-old actress appeared on the SBS program "Cultwo Show" with the 20-year-old singer-actor. The host asked her if she knew about Yook's band BtoB before she signed on to co-star with him, but she admitted that she did not.

The band debuted in 2012 with the release of a mini-album under Cube Entertainment. They have since released five mini albums.

"Honestly, I didn't know them that well," said Moon. "I did hear the name Yook Sung Jae a lot though."

In the last year Yook Sung Jae has attracted a lot of attention. In 2014 he became an emcee for the program "A Song For You" with Kangin of Super Junior and Amber of f(x). Later that year he landed his first acting role, playing the romantically idealistic middle brother Kang Min Gu in the comedy "Plus Nine Boys." Then he joined the cast of the variety show "Real Men." But his big breakthrough happened when he played the second lead Gong Tae Kwang in the high school drama "Who Are You - School 2015." It was a role that definitely promoted second lead syndrome. In 2015 he also appeared on "We Got Married" with Red Velvet's Joy.

"When I told the women around me that I was filming a new drama with him, they got so excited,"  said Moon.

In their upcoming drama "The Village: Achiara's Secret," she plays Kim So Yoon, an English teacher who moves to a seemingly peaceful crime-free village. But shortly after she arrives she discovers a body. Yook Sung Jae plays Park Woo Jae, a rookie police officer who enlists her help in solving the crime. It took him three tries to pass the test to become a police officer and he is determined to solve his first case.

There's no loveline in the drama between Kim So Yoon and Park Woo Jae, so it won't be a noona romance. But Moon's "Cultwo Show" comments about Yook made it seem as if she is aware of the age difference.

"He seemed so cute and sweet," said Moon, who can be seen in the film "The Throne." "It's nice to work with someone so young and fresh."

"The Village - Achiara's Secret" will air on October 7. The 24-episode drama also stars Shin Eun Kyung, On Joo Wan, Jang Hee Jin and Kim Min Jae.
