However, some films are being overlooked despite their greatness and potential. Here are four underrated Korean movies you need to watch before the year wraps up.

'Jung_E'

Kim Hyun Joo returned to the spotlight with her sci-fi thriller film "Jung_E" which undoubtedly surprised the public.

She bid goodbye to her sophisticated image and transformed into a mercenary leader and a robot who ended the war in a dystopian South Korea.

While it earned high praises from the viewers, it didn't reach a huge audience compared to previous works in Hallyu. Check out the film now on Netflix.

'Soulmate'

Kim Da Mi headlined the Chinese-based youth film "Soulmate" earlier this year opposite Jeon So Nee.

The film tells the complicated narratives and inner workings of human relationships as two childhood friends grow apart, reunite and rekindle their love for each other.

From "Itaewon Class" to "Our Beloved Summer," Kim Da Mi challenged herself with the inspirational film which hadn't received the same traction from the public.
