Lee Je Hoon just wrapped up a huge chapter in his career with the end of SBS's hit drama "Taxi Driver 3." For five years, he's been the face of Kim Do Gi—a vigilante behind the wheel—pulling in both rave reviews and a massive fan base.

Following the finale, Lee spoke about the end of the series during an interview held in Gangnam, Seoul. According to Koreaboo, the actor reflected on the emotional weight of wrapping up a project that shaped much of his recent career.
Lee said, "Only now do I truly feel it's over." He added, "It's been less than ten days since the end, and only now does it feel real. Suddenly losing the Friday and Saturday broadcasts I used to watch live feels deeply empty. I imagine the production crew and actors who filmed together would feel similarly."
"Taxi Driver" centers on Rainbow Transport, a secretive taxi company that carries out revenge on behalf of victims failed by the justice system. Through the franchise, Lee won the SBS acting grand prize twice, in 2023 and 2025, cementing both its commercial success and his standing as a leading actor, as reported by Naver.
Discussing his approach to the final season, Lee explained his involvement in the production process. He said, "I carefully reviewed the editing and post-production process even before the originals aired. We exchanged opinions until the very end, so I never felt a disconnect watching the broadcast."
On the impact of awards, he maintained perspective, saying, "Winning the award didn't change anything." He later acknowledged, "I don't choose projects with awards in mind... so I can't say I had no expectations."
Season 3 also tackled socially sensitive themes. Addressing episodes that sparked debate, Lee offered context for his performance. He said, "The story starts from dramatic fiction. I focused on how to best portray Kim Do Gi."
He added, "It was an episode showing the dangers that can arise when unchecked power operates, and how crucial citizens' choices and solidarity become." On differing reactions, he noted, "Everyone has different interpretations of a work. Over time, other evaluations might emerge."
Lee also spoke candidly about the physical and emotional challenges of the role, including side characters and demanding scenes.
He shared, "Dancing girl group choreography was really hard... I even cried during practice." Reflecting on the show's popularity, he said, "It offers a satisfying release for the frustrations and stresses we accumulate in real life."
As he looks ahead, Lee acknowledged how the role shaped him. "Through Kim Do Gi, I've become more aware of responsibilities and roles as an adult," he said. "I naturally wish for the world to improve a bit more."
While "Taxi Driver 3" ended with a nationwide rating of 13.3%, Lee hinted that his journey as an actor is far from over.
