Jo Jin Woong Fails to Recognize Han Hyo Joo on the Set of 'Believer 2'
"Believer 2" cast stole the spotlight after gracing the open talk event at the BIFF 2023.
Director Baek Jong Yeol welcomed the audience along with lead stars Han Hyo Joo, Jo Jin Woong, Cha Seung Won, and Oh Seung Hoon.
At the event, cast members and directors spilled the tea regarding the unexpected experience and intensity of the film's preparation.
One of the most talked-about subjects is Han Hyo Joo's transformation.
Han Hyo Joo Went on Dehydration Regime for her Role in 'Believer 2'
During the discussion, Han Hyo Joo revealed how she prepared to portray the role of Keunkal, a.k.a. Big Knife.
Joining as one of the new characters, the actress said that she "had to create something new" and show something that she didn't have. Among them is transforming into the character emotionally and physically.
One of the things that she focused on was the visual ideas, where she had to fit the character of Keunkal.
Due to this, Han Hyo Joo said that she went on an extreme diet and underwent intense workouts to prepare for her character.
"In the morning, I did weight training to build muscles, ate eggs and bananas simply at lunch, and I had to lose weight again in the afternoon, so I did cardio all day," she shared, as obtained by a media outlet.
In addition, she also went to greater lengths and had to do a dehydration regime that included no water intake for 3 days.
"In the last action scene, I tear up all my clothes, and at that time, my body (made so far) needs to be exposed, so I tried the hydration method for the first time in my life," she said, adding, "I took out all the hydration from my body by not taking a sip of water for three days."
Interestingly, this is also what Chris Hemsworth did before filming his shirtless scene.
As for the Korean actress, she had an action scene with Oh Seuyng Hoon's character, Rak, where she had to appear in ripped clothes.

During the open talk event at the BIFF 2023, Jo Jin Woong recalled the time when he didn't recognize his co-star.
According to the award-winning actor, he "hardly recognizes" Han Hyo Joo, and it even came to the point where the actress introduced herself to Jo Jin Woong.
"Han HyoJoo came up to me and said, 'Sunbae, I'm Han Hyojoo'. And then the next day, I saw her at an event and thought that this isn't someone I saw yesterday," he said, hinting at the huge transformation of the actress.
As for the director, Baek Jong Yeol smiled at Han Hyo Joo as he bowed his head, saying, "I officially apologize to Han Hyo-joo for making her do that," causing laughter among the audience.
"Believer 2" is the sequel to the movie released in 2018. It depicts the story of Detective Won Ho, who is looking for a missing person named Rak and chases a drug ring boss identified as Teacher Lee.
The star-studded movie is set to be released on November 17, 2023, exclusively on Netflix.
