'A Bloody Lucky Day' Screened at Busan International Film Festival

Yoo Yeon Seok is known for showing a variety of roles, may it be as a doctor, businessman, professor, and many more. 

In a report cited by a media outlet on October 7, it was revealed that the "Hospital Playlist" star is gearing up for his screen return. He is confirmed to headline the new thriller K-drama "A Bloody Lucky Day," alongside brilliant actors Lee Sang Min and Lee Jung Eun.

The cast attended the 28th Busan International Film Festival as their upcoming series was invited to be screened at the prestigious event.

In a press conference that they attended, the trio gave more details about their project. In particular, Yoo Yeon Seok grabbed everyone's attention when he shared the preparation he did for this series.

Yoo Yeon Seok Embarks on First Dark Role in 'A Bloody Lucky Day'

Different from the approachable doctor from "Hospital Playlist" and the loving baseball player in "Reply 1994," Yoo Yeon Seok is set to showcase a stark transformation in "A Bloody Lucky Day," where he dives into the shoes of a serial killer.

The actor gave an exclusive peek into his preparations for the role. According to him, as part of his learning process, he studied real-life psychopaths.

"The clips I researched, where actual psychopaths were interviewed, revealed a unique trait-sharp, focused eyes when they speak. I aimed to bring that cold simplicity in my portrayal, mirroring that very directness and clarity."

What We Know So Far About 'A Bloody Lucky Day'

"A Bloody Lucky Day" is adapted from a webcomic that follows the story of Oh Taek, a taxi driver. Fortune gives a smile to Mr. Oh after he dreams about a pig, which symbolizes good luck.

His day is full of back-to-back fares, and earns a handful of money. But as the day is about to end, his last passenger, Hyuk Soo, offers a considerable amount for a long trip. The supposed fun and spontaneous ride soon turns dark when Oh Taek realizes that he's trapped with a murderer.

For Yoo Yeon Seok, this new drama was unexpected. He remarked that he mostly found himself looking for darker roles.

"While filming my medical series, I found myself yearning to diversify my portfolio. This drama script landed unexpectedly at that time. Since then, I was already smitten by the character."

This thriller drama is expected to meet viewers this November on the online streaming platform TVING.
