Kdrama Deja Vu: Acting Together Once Was Not Good Enough

Convincingly portraying a relationship in a kdrama must be hard enough for two actors. But what if you've played another role opposite the same actor in another drama.

On the drama "Who Are You?" So E Hyun, playing Detective Shi On, consults Kim Seung Su, playing Prosecutor Park Eung Joon, on an important case. But it must have been hard for her to act so cordially toward him after the way his character treated hers in their last drama together. In "Cheomdamdung Alice," he played Shin Min Hyuk the chaebol husband who coldly kicks her to the curb when he finds out she married him for his money.

And that's not the only case of two kdrama actors having played more than one role with each other.

Despite being the sweetest guy in the world, Jung Yong Hwa did not get Park Shin Hye in "You're Beautiful." He lost her to Jang Geun Suk, who initially treats her terribly. But then fans were happy when the couple wound up together in the sweet musical drama "Heartstrings."

In the film "My Little Bride," Moon Geun Young plays Bo Eun, a 15-year-old girl with a crush on Jung Woo, played by Park Jin Woo. But she has been forced to marry someone else. Although she ultimately realizes that she loves her contracted husband, it's not the last time she will see Park Jin Woo. The two actors were reunited as rivals in the historical drama "Painter of the Wind." She plays Shin Yun Bok, a woman disguised as a man so she can paint. He plays Jang Hyo Won. And although she pretends to be a man for most of the drama, when she briefly dresses up as a woman, Jang Hyo Won is attracted to her.

Yeo Jin Goo and Kim Yoo Jung are child actors who have already had a long career playing the younger versions of main characters. In the drama "Iljimae," they play the child versions of Lee Gyeom and Eun Chae. They were reunited in "The Moon Embracing the Sun" when they played the teenage versions of the tragic lovers Heo Yeon Woo and Prince Lee Hwon. They make a great couple and given their age, they are likely to reunite in a future drama.

Kim Nam Gil and Son Ye Jin were doomed lovers in the revenge melodrama "Shark." He played her childhood love that she was sure had died. When he returns for revenge, she is already married. Although their love was never meant to be in this melodrama, the actors had great chemistry. They have been reunited in the upcoming film "Pirates" as the leader of a gang of bandits and the female captain of a pirate ship who must unite to take on a ghost whale. Fans hope they will wind up together.
