Netflix announced the official production start for "TYGO," a new action blockbuster that expands the world of its hit "Extraction" franchise. The film introduces a Korean storyline led by Ma Dong Seok, Lee Jin Uk and BLACKPINK's Lisa.
The film revolves around Tygo, a mercenary who has survived a very brutal childhood as a former child soldier. When a dangerous mission goes wrong and his best friend, Lia, is kidnapped, Tygo embarks on a hazardous rescue effort that forces him back into the violence he once tried to leave behind.
According to a report by Naver, "TYGO" will have a new story in the universe with new characters and a unique Korean-style action, shaped by the country's rising status in the global film industry.
Ma Dong Seok will star in the title role as a mercenary who lived his life in war-torn regions of the world, with only survival in mind.
Ma Dong Seok shared, "I'm very happy that production is finally beginning on this project that AGBO and I have been preparing for years. 'TYGO' will add a uniquely Korean touch to the global 'Extraction' universe. I look forward to the day when we can show audiences around the world the explosive energy of 'TYGO.'.'"

Lee Jin Uk enters the scene as Arman Choi, a central figure inside the criminal organization opposing Tygo. According to an article from Soompi, the role represents a bold character change for the veteran actor.
Lee Jin Uk shared, "As a big fan of the 'Extraction' series, it's a great honor to become part of its universe. I'm especially excited and grateful to be working with Ma Dong Seok and Lisa. I'll do my very best to repay this opportunity with a great performance."
Lisa of BLACKPINK plays the role of Lia, Tygo's best friend and mission partner. Her character grew up with Tygo, developing a family-like bond in the process of surviving perilous childhoods. Naver pointed out that this will be Lisa's first Korean film after her appearance in Season 3 of "The White Lotus" on HBO.
Lisa said, "It's truly an honor to take part in this project, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such incredible actors. Starring in an action film has been a long-time dream of mine, and I'm so happy that my first movie role is in such an amazing production."
"TYGO" is being directed by Lee Sang Yong of "The Roundup" franchise and is produced by Big Punch Pictures, AGBO, Nova Film and B&C Content.
