Jung Il Woo will appear in the new MBC weekend drama "Golden Rainbow." The drama tells the story of seven orphaned siblings who although they are not blood related, become a family.

In the drama Jung plays Do Young, a prosecutor whose life is disrupted when his father remarries and starts a new family. He is successful and competent but estranged from his father and stepmother.

Do Young falls in love with Baek Won, played by Uee, who is the older sister of the seven siblings. They all live with Baek Won's grandmother,  while her father is away. At first Baek Won's father is off at sea but later he is framed and sent to prison. It's not an easy life but they have each other. And Baek Won helps to hold the family together.

Although Uee was cast as Baek Won early on, the production company, Mayqueen Productions, took a long time to decide on its leading actor.

"We were very careful in choosing the actor to play the lead role because it's crucially important to the story line," said a representative from Mayqueen Pictures. "We have high expectations of Jung Il Woo because he's both popular and a very good actor."

Jung Il Woo was last seen as the spoiled heir in "Flower Boy Ramen Shop," a heavenly traffic coordinator in "49 Days" and the tragic prince Yang Myung in "The Moon Embracing The Sun."

Uee appeared in "You're Beautiful," "Ojakgyo Brothers" and "Jeon Woo Chi."

Kim Sang Joong, who was last seen in "The Chaser" and played Steve Lee in "City Hunter," will appear as the orphans' adoptive father. Lee Chae Mi, the child actress who stole the show in "Two Weeks" will play the young Uee and Kim Yoo Jung of "May Queen" and "The Moon Embracing The Sun" will play her as a teen.

Lee Jae Yoon I and Cha Ye Ryeon will play Uee's brother and sister. Lee, who previously appeared in "Cruel City" and "Queen of Ambition," plays the stubborn Mon Won. His character lives with Baek Won. When Kim Sang Joong is framed and sent to prison Mon Won helps take care of the orphans. He falls for  Baek Won, who he helped to raise but he cannot express his feelings for her.

Cha Ye Ryeon, who appeared in the drama "Royal Family" and the film "Sector 7," plays Cheon Won. Cheon Won is a woman who escapes abuse and poverty by coming to live with Baek Won's family. The easiest way she sees to escape her life of poverty for good is to seduce Do Young. Love square anyone?

The series will follow "Scandal: A Shocking And Immoral Incident" and begin on Nov. 2. The number of episodes has not been set but as it's a weekend drama, it could run for as long as 50 episodes.
