Seo In Guk On “Answer Me 1997”, “I Declined The Role”

Seo In Guk's most popular character to date is probably Yoon Yoon Jae from tvN's "Answer Me 1997", one of 2012's most successful dramas, but he revealed that he declined the role when it was first offered to him.

On his recent guest appearance in the variety show "Happy Together", he said, "When I first received the offer, I declined."

The singer-actor elaborated, "My role in Love Rain was a mood-maker, so I thought it would be the same with Answer Me 1997 with a secondary role, but they said I would be taking on the lead role of Yoon Jae who is charismatic, so I told them I wouldn't do it. I wasn't cool and I wasn't good looking, so I didn't think I was someone who could take on a role like that. I felt embarrassed that I would be a burden to director Shin Won Ho."

After much thought, he ended up taking the role, and it proved to be a good decision because it is the role that propelled him to fame after its successful run.

Seo In Guk began a his career as a singer after winning first place on Superstar K, and he has since then accepted roles in dramas such as "Answer Me 1997", "Love Rain", "Master's Sun", and the movie "No Breathing" which aired this October 31.
