On the 24th day of January, a recent film called Chiefs of Namsan, reached a million moviegoers at the box office. Chiefs of Namsan is a film based on a nonfiction bestseller from 1992 of the same title. The film includes actors Lee Byung Hun together with Lee Sung Min and Kwak Do Won and Director Woo Min Ho as the director of the film.

The story of Chiefs of Namsan is set  in the 1970s, where politics were a lot rough and turbulent. it depicts the story of the Director of the Korean Central Intelligence Agency (KCIA) in an era leading up to when President Park Chung Hee was assassinated in the year 1979. In the film, Lee Byung Hun will porray the role of Kim Kyu Pyung, a name based on the former Korean Central Intelligence Agency Chief, Kim Jae Gyu. Lee Sung Min who is famous for roles he had in films such as The Spy Gone North and The Witness this year, is taking on the role of President Park, based on the name Park Chung Hee. Kwak Do Won, the lead role of film Last Winter's Steel Rain, is portraying the role of Park Yong Gak which is based on the previous KCIA head, Kim Hyung Wook.

In real life, Kim Jae Gyu is known to be as the President Park Chung Hee's assassin. Also included in the cast of the films are Lee Hee Jun who is seen in 1987, When the day comes, a film from 2017. He plays the role of Kwak Sang CHun, which is the Chief Officer of the Presidential Security. And Kim So in who is seen in the film, The King in 2017, as the lobbyist Deborah Shim.

Before the film, actor Lee Byung Hun and Director Woo Min Ho worked together in a film called Inside Men, which was a huge hit. It surpassed over 9 million viewers in 2015. Director Woo Min Ho will surely be busy all through out the year because the production of his film, Chiefs of Namsan will collide with his promotional duties for his forthcoming crime drama set in the 1970s called The Drug King with actors Song Kang Ho and Bae Doo Na. The film was set to come out last December. Included in his success are his flms, Man of Vendetta in 2010 and The Spies in 2012.

The film, Chief of Namsan achieved a breakthorugh after 3 days of its release and it increased popularity during the holidays. Chiefs of Namsan's success makes the film in the same level wth 2019's hit film, Extreme Job and released recently, Ashfaal. Both film also reached a million moviegoers after three days. Nonetheless, Chiefs of Namsan's success is very much notable than the film, Extreme Job because it is not a comedy released in the Lunar New year like Extreme Job. In the film industry, they believe tht comedies do way better when they are released during the Lunar New Year. One of the factors of the film's success is the attraction it made from different age groups because there are a lot of people who still remember the assassination of Park Chung Hee.

Go and catch the film, Chiefs of Namsan, premiered in South Korea on January 22, 2020.
