Im Siwan and Kim Hee Won to Possibly Star in New Film “Smartphone”
Im Siwan is in talks to star in a new film, and we are all for it!
On September 7, it was reported that stars Im Siwan and Kim Hee Won are both in discussions to lead a movie, titled "Smartphone." As a response to the said report, Plum Actors, which is the agency of Im Siwan, acknowledged that their talent had received the offer, and as of the moment, he is reviewing the project.
"Smartphone" will be helmed by director Kim Tae Joon, and it will tell the story of an average office worker, portrayed by Im Siwan, who lost his smartphone which will unfold untoward incidents. He subsequently taps the police to help him find it. To add as part of the cast is Kim Hee Won, who is in talks to star as the detective who tracks the case.
In 2012, Im Siwan starred in the period drama Moon Embracing the Sun. He portrayed the younger version of Heo Yeom. The drama became widely famous and surpassed 40% ratings and gained "national drama" status. Thorugh this, Im Siwan was launched to fame.
The following year, he starred in the courtroom drama film The Attorney, which he portrayed the character of a student activist detained and tortured by the police on accusations of being a communist sympathizer.
Currently, Im Siwan is working on his aviation disaster film titled Emergency Declaration. He will star alongside famous actors Song Kang Ho and Lee Byung Hun.
Meanwhile, his other film is Boston 1947 where he will star together with Ha Jung Woo.
The 31-year-old star decided to change his original name, Woong Jae to Siwan before his debut. On July 11, 2017, he officially entered his mandatory military service and was assigned to be an assistant instructor for new recruits due to his good performance. Im Siwan was then discharged on March 27, 2019.
On the other hand, Kim Hee-won, has known to have previously worked with Im Siwan in the critically acclaimed drama Misaeng: Incomplete Life (2014). Smartphone will mark as Im Siwan and Kim Hee Won's reunion project.
Kim has also made some notable appearances in films throughout his career in the entertainment industry namely: Another Child (2019), My Punch-Drunk Boxer (2019), and The Divine Move 2: The Wrathful (2019). The same as Im Siwan, Kim Hee Won is also anticipated to grace the big screen soon in his upcoming films The Golden Holiday and Collateral.
Based on some reports, the "Smartphone" is scheduled start their filming early next year after their cast is finalized.
