[TW] 5 South Korean Actresses Who Sadly Took Their Own Life

Because being under more pressure compared to us ordinary people, some Korean celebrities can suffer from a wide range of mental disorders, like panic attacks, insomnia, violent outbursts, substance abuse, eating disorders, and even suicidal thoughts.
And sad to say that some are too fearful of seeking expert advice, fearing their weakness will be exposed, causing them to end their own lives.
Here is the list of 5 Korean actresses who sadly made the extreme choice.
Choi Jin Sil
Choi Jin Sil was considered one of the best actresses in South Korea, nicknamed "The Nation's Actress." On October 2, 2008, however, the actress was found hanged at her home in Seoul. Upon investigation, it was deemed that Choi Jin Sil took her own life. Reportedly, Choi Jin Sil suffered greater stress amid rumors circulating on the Internet that she was involved in the suicide of fellow actor Ahn Jae Hwan.
Sulli
Choi Jin Ri, also is known as her stage name Sulli, was a talented model, singer, and actress. Sulli was widely recognized as a prominent figure in Korean popular culture for her outspoken personality, which made her the most Googled person in South Korea in 2017.
Unfortunately, on October 14, 2019, Sulli was found lifeless her own home in Seongnam, south of Seoul. There was a letter found with the late star's handwriting explaining her feelings at that time but authorities concluded that it was not a suicide note.
However, the said letter painted a picture of the consequences of Sulli's untreated mental health issues, which included panic disorder and social phobia.
Goo Hara
Goo Hara was a South Korean singer and actress and a member of the girl group called KARA. She was widely known for her role in Lee Min Ho and Park min young's action drama "City Hunter." The young actress was found dead at her home in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam on November 24, 2019.
Upon investigation, they discovered a suicide note written by the late star, so they made the conclusion that there was no foul play with regard to her death. Goo Hara took her own life just over a month after her closest friend and fellow idol Sulli had committed suicide.
Jeon Mi Seon
Jeon Mi Seon is an award-winning dramatic actress. Her career blossomed for decades from film to television and theater which made her Korea's greatest onscreen talents.
Sadly, Jeon Mi Seon was found dead by hanging at a hotel in Jeonju on June 29, 2019. She was only 48 years old. Just days before her sad death, her manager had alerted the police that she had gone missing. She had a history of depression.
Jang Ja Yeon
Jang Ja Yeon started her career in the entertainment industry through a television commercial. Her big break came when she portrayed the character of Sunny, one of a trio of girls who antagonize the main female lead in the hit drama "Boys Over Flowers."
The actress sadly took her own life by hanging and was found lifeless in her home in the Bundang district of Seongnam, Gyeonggi province, on March 7, 2009. Upon investigation of her death, it was revealed that the CEO of her then talent agency would routinely force her and other young actresses to engage in sexual acts with him and the company's male executives. Her death paved way for Korea's entertainment industry to be examined thoroughly.
The deaths of these celebrities were sad news to all of us, and they will always be remembered. We do hope that for someone who is battling depression please do not hesitate to seek help.
