Historical Drama 'Secret Royal Inspector' Releases More Stills of Kim Myung Soo and Kwon Nara’s Characters
The upcoming historical drama of KBS channel titled "Secret Royal Inspector" has released more stills of Kim Myung Soo and Kwon Nara's characters.
"Secret Royal Inspector" is a mystery drama that tells the story of a secret royal inspector who works in provinces to take down corrupt officials in order to bring justice and help solve other people's problems. A secret royal inspector was a real position during the Joseon Dynasty, in which the king directly appoints an undercover officer.
The drama is set in the Joseon era where Kim Myung Soo portrays the character of Sung Yi Gyeom. He topped the state examination and acquired a job at the Hongmungwan (administrative and research department). He's also a carefree man who doesn't think about his future with no ambitions or goals in life. However, his life changes when he was caught doing an illegal act, which led to his punishment. He is then given the task to become a secret royal inspector.
Sung Yi Gyeom was assigned to eliminate all illegal acts and corruption by public officials. He goes on with his new job with the assistance of Hong Da In portrayed by Kwon Na Ra who is a female inspector known as a damo (a woman who works for a Joseon government office). She hides her real identity as a gisaeng (courtesan trained in music and the arts) and she has a trusted servant, Park Chun-Sam played by Lee Yi Kyung.
Sung Yi Kyum's previous lifestyle is quite reckless as he lives a double life by gambling and visiting gisaeng houses every night. However, his life started to change when he was given the position of a secret royal inspector. Meanwhile, Hong Da In is actually born from royalty but has kept her real identity because of the unfortunate family history she has from childhood. She preferred to dedicate her life to achieving justice.
The two main characters will go through trials that will change them and make them grow. They will also become closer as they uncover corrupt artisans together.
On the other hand, Lee Tae Hwan plays the character of Sung Yi Beom who is Sung Yi-Gyeom's younger stepbrother. His father is in the upper-class status but his mother is a servant and because his mother is beneath their high standards, his father does not accept him as his real son and he is stripped from his rights to gain opportunities. He denounces his older stepbrother Sung Yi-Gyeom.
Kim Myung Soo's latest drama was "Meow, the Secret Boy" and he also starred in the historical drama "The Emperor: Owner of the Mask". Kwon Nara on the other hand starred in various dramas and especially gained a lot of attention with her latest drama "Itaewon Class".
"Secret Royal Inspector" is scheduled to premiere on December 21 at 9:30 p.m. KST.
