Lee Kwang Soo to Possibly Play the Lead Role in the New Fantasy-Action Drama ‘Hero’
Comedian and actor Lee Kwang Soo to possibly star in a new drama!
According to the report on Jan. 6, a source from the drama industry informed Ilgan Sports that, "Lee Kwang Soo will be appearing as the lead character of the drama 'Hero.'"
After the said report, Lee Kwang Soo's agency King Kong by Starship Entertainment released a statement regarding the news, "Our artist Lee Kwang Soo has received an offer to star in the upcoming fantasy action drama 'Hero,' and he is currently reviewing it."
The upcoming series is a fantasy action melodrama that reflects the dilemma of this generation, wherein it is hard to determine who is the real hero and villain. The story will revolve around a prosecutor named Oh Gyu Tae, who lost his job for being too annoying, but he also happens to have a special ability. He couldn't bear to see injustices in society, so he is always interested in helping others. He also has a strong sense of doubt.
If Lee Kwang Soo accepts the offer, he will be playing the lead role as Oh Gyu Tae, an unemployed prosecutor who was born with a courteous personality. He also has extraordinary athletic skills that he learned as a hobby at a young age.
This will be Lee Kwang Soo's first lead drama role, as he has been known for always being the second lead or a lead's best friend in every drama. If he accepts the offer, the comedian will be transforming into a new persona, which the viewers are already looking forward to as early as now.
"Hero" will be penned by writer Park Hee Kang, who also wrote "Possessed," and Choi Do Hoon will direct the drama. Before, actor Woo Do Hwan was firstly in talks to play the role of Oh Gyu Tae, but the drama production is still currently undecided as to who will fit the role perfectly.
Meanwhile, Lee Kwang Soo continues excelling as one of the prominent stars in the Korean entertainment industry. He has been doing numerous projects from variety shows, movies, and even dramas.
