These 7 K-Drama Actresses Made Their Debut after Being Street Cast
There are numerous celebrities who made their debut in the entertainment industry without training for a long time and are able to appear on shows thanks to their natural beauty. This includes cases in which they are simply walking down the street, flaunting their natural beauty.
Here are seven K-drama actresses who caught the attention of agency officials and debuted as actresses after being street cast.
1. Park Gyu Young
Park Gyu Young was just an ordinary Yonsei University student before she made her name known as an actress in the entertainment industry. The girl was street cast by JYP Entertainment after an agency representative saw her on the cover of Yonsei University's school magazine in 2015. They offered her an audition and she debuted as an actress in Jo Kwon's music video for "Crosswalk" in 2016.
In 2019, she left JYP Entertainment and is currently signed with Saram Entertainment. She most recently acted in Netflix's "Sweet Home."
2. Kim Tae Hee
Did you know that Kim Tae Hee, who is considered one of the most beautiful women in South Korea, was street cast? In 2000, an advertising executive spotted Kim Tae Hee as she was riding a subway and offered her a modeling job. She ended up starring in numerous commercials and print ads. She made her debut as an actress in the 2001 melodrama "Last Present."
During an appearance on MC's "MBC Special" in 2011, Kim Tae Hee was asked how many times she has been street cast. She shocked everyone when she revealed that every time she went out, she received an offer.

3. Han Ga In
As a high school student, Han Ga In appeared on the KBS show "The Golden Bell Challenge" alongside other students from around the country. Numerous entertainment executives saw her in clips from the show and immediately went to her school to offer her an audition. However, Han Ga In would refuse all the casting offers she received in high school to focus on her studies. She would enter the entertainment industry once she passed Kyunghee University.
Han Ga In is mostly known for her roles in "Moon Embracing the Sun" and "Architecture 101" (2012).
4. Song Ji Hyo
Song Ji Hyo was street cast while working part-time at a cake shop. She recalled her being street cast during a 2018 episode of SBS's "Running Man," where she revealed the first place she received a business card before making her debut was in Shinchon-dong, Seoul. Before to her debut as an actress, she started as a model for Kiki Magazine.
Song Ji Hyo is known for her roles in the films "A Frozen Flower" (2008), "New World" (2013), and "Was It Love?" (2020). Additionally, Song Ji Hyo is also known for her role in the drama "Emergency Couple" (2014). Most K-pop fans know her as a cast member of "Running Man".
5. Seo Hyun Jin
Seo Hyun Jin spoke about how she debuted during an appearance on tvN's "Let's Eat With Friends" in 2015. She revealed that she was street cast by SM Entertainment when she was seventeen years old. At the time, street casting became the big thing in the industry, and she was one of the lucky people who got cast.

She trained to be a K-pop idol and debuted with the girl group M.I.L.K as their main vocalist in 2001. However, they ended up disbanding in 2003. She promoted as a soloist before pursuing a career in acting in 2006. Seo Hyun Jin is known for her roles in the dramas "Temperature of Love" (2017), "Another Ms. Oh" (2016), and "The Beauty Inside" (2018).
6. Kim Ji Won
Kim Ji Won became both a singing and acting trainee after she was street cast when she was only in middle school! Despite training to be both an idol and an actress, Kim Ji Won ultimately chose to pursue acting and debuted in the drama "Mrs. Saigon" after three years of training.
Prior to formally debuting as an actress, she was known as the "Oran C Girl" and the "Lollipop Girl" after appearing in a lollipop commercial. She was also being dubbed as "Little Kim Tae Hee" due to her resemblance to the actress.
In 2008, she sang background vocals for Younha and appeared in the music video for "Gossip Boy."
Kim Ji Won is known for starring in "Descendants of the Sun" (2016) and now in the ongoing "Lovestruck in the City" with actor Ji Chang Wook.
7. Seo Ji Hye
When Seo Ji Hye was a second year in high school, she was street cast and signed with an agency. We can see why her glowing visuals boosted her to fame, especially when she appeared as Seo Dan in the 2019 drama "Crash Landing on You."
Seo Ji Hye debuted as an actress in 2002 when she appeared in Taemu's music video for "It's Snowing." Besides her role in "Crash Landing on You," she is also known for her roles in 2018's "The Surgeons" and 2020's "Dinner Mate."
