The drama takes place towards the end of the Joseon era and will tell the story of a royal secret inspector who is in disguise traveling to different provinces to take down illegal deeds of public officials, to give justice and solve the problems of other people. Sung Yi Kyum starred by Kim Myung Soo, who topped the state examination and he now has a job at the Hongmungwan (administrative and research department). He's a carefree man who doesn't seem to have plans for his future. One day, he was caught doing an illegal deed and as punishment, we were assigned to work as a secret royal inspector.
He carries out his new job with the help of two people. Hong Da In played by Kwon Nara who is a damo (a woman working for the government office). She goes undercover as a gisaeng (courtesan) and Park Choon Sam starred by Lee Yi Kyung, the right hand and most trusted servant of Sung Yi Kyum.

Meanwhile, another character in the drama is Sung Yi Bum portrayed by Lee Tae Hwan, he is the younger stepbrother of Sung Yi Gyum. His father belongs to a high-class society and his mother is of low social status. Due to this, his father does not recognize him as his real son and is barred from receiving certain opportunities. He's denounced his older stepbrother Sung Yi Gyum.

In the previous episode, the trio (Sung Yi Kyum, Hong Da In, and Park Choon Sam) thrilled the viewers when they took down the group of government officials who were creating havoc in order to take a hold of the opium poppy (unripe seedpods of the opium poppy). Then they went on to accomplish their final mission which is to uncover the truth behind Prince Hwi Young's death.

In Hanyang, Kim Byung Geun (Son Byung Ho) discovers something in Hong Da In's room that belongs to Prince Hwi Young and immediately delivers it to the king which led them to group the trio together with the traitor Prince Hwi Young.
The newly released stills exhibit the danger Sun Yi Kyum is involved in. He was caught by soldiers and was forced to kneel before Kim Man Hee (Chae Dong Hyun).

Kim Man Hee announces the orders by the King to Sun Yi Kyum. However, we can see Sun Yi Kyum's eyes widen in confusion at the message. Another photo features Sung Yi Kyum participating in an archery competition after having a few drinks. At first, he is skillfully aiming his arrow at the target with a clear gaze, however after a few more drinks; his eyes slowly lose focus as he continues to take part in the competition.
This makes the viewers curious as to why he is participating in such dangerous events and will he be able to make it through the competition without danger?
