Confirmed: Seo Ye Ji and Kim Nam Gil to Star in the Newest Webtoon-Based Drama ‘Island’
Another creation from webtoon will be making its way on the small screen.
On the fourth of February, OCN released a short video clip introducing the upcoming webtoon-based drama "Island". Jo Byeong Gyu, one of the main cast in the previous record-breaking OCN drama "The Uncanny Counter" presented the plot and other details about the series.
Actors Kim Nam Gil and Seo Ye Ji are confirmed to be the main leads of the drama "Island". Meanwhile, "Run On" star Im Siwan is in talks to join the cast and his character is still in discussion also.
Webtoon-based drama "Island" will tell the story of Won Mi Ho, the only daughter of a father who runs one of the biggest companies in Seoul, the Daehan Group. She is brilliant and beautiful, but arrogant and inconsiderate. Despite her strong aura, she still has a soft side. On an ordinary day, Won Mi Ho, unexpectedly made a big mistake in her life. Due to this event, her father sends her away to Jeju island, where she will be working as a high school teacher who teaches ethics.
During her stay in the island, she will be involved in a case related to ghosts. These ghosts have the desire to get rid of the human world, and their main target is Won Mi Ho. Meanwhile, a mysterious ghost hunter will come out to protect Won Mi Ho against these evil spirits.
Seo Ye Ji is expected to play the role of Won Mi Ho, and Kim Nam Gil will be playing the character of the mysterious ghost who will be protecting Won Mi Ho during her stay in the island.
After her exceptional portrayal as Ko Moon Young in the phenomenal drama "It's Okay to Not Be Okay", Seo Ye Ji will be playing another character close to her previous one. This will be her return on the small screen following her drama with Kim Soo Hyun. She became more popular because of her amazing performance in "It's Okay to Not Be Okay", she was lauded by the viewers both local and international. Now that she will be back on the drama scene, many are already waiting on what kind of new flavor Seo Ye Ji can bring to her forthcoming character as Won Mi Ho.
Meanwhile, Kim Nam Gil has been to various dramas and movies already. Recently, it has been reported that "The Great Queen Seondeok" star launches his own agency named Gilstory ENT. As he starts another journey of building his own company, his heart is still in the acting industry. He started from playing small roles, until is continuously being recognized with his natural talent in acting, and received his first BaekSang Arts Awards as the best new actor for his portrayal as Bi Dam in the marvelous drama "The Great Queen Seondeok" in 2010. Since then, he has been busy hustling in the entertainment industry.
