‘Navillera’ Episode 9: Song Kang Decides to Reveal Park In Hwan’s Illness to His Son

Lee Chae-Rok tells Sim Seong Gwan About Sim Deok Chul's Illness

The previous episode left off with Lee Chae-Rok (Song Kang) witnessing how Sim Deok Chul (Park In Hwan) is slowly losing his memory due to his Alzheimer's disease.

Following the duo's tear-jerking scene at the park, the 70-year-old appears to be afraid to face the truth and tells his ballet teacher that he "just zoned out."

"Navillera" episode 9 also showed Chae-rok informing Mr. Sim's youngest son about his illness.

Before the dinner at Deok Chul's house, he got the courage to tell Sim Seong Gwan (Jo Bok Rae) his father's health condition.

At first, he felt hesitant and thinks that he is not in the position to disclose Mr. Sim's secret; however, Seong Gwan insists and tells him to spill it out. Chae-Rok then revealed that the 70-year-old is suffering from Alzheimer's, which turned the youngest son into a complete shock.

Sim Deok Chul Stars in his Son's Documentary

After learning about his father's condition, Sim Seong Gwan has decided to make a documentary about Deok Chul's interesting life and told him that he would be the main character in his upcoming project.

Titled "A man in his 70s who loves ballet," he followed his father's day-to-day activity, including his ballet practice with Chae Rok.

Lee Chae Rok Defends Sim Deok Chul from Hwang Hee

"Navillera" episode 9 also introduces Hwang Hee (Seo In Guk), Lee Chae Rok's senior.

Upon seeing him at the studio, Sim Deok Chul gets starstruck by his presence and tells him that it's an honor to meet him.

On the other hand, the star ballerino was also surprised upon learning that Mr. Sim was also at the studio to practice ballet and told him to have fun with his hobby.

Chae Rok sensed that the 70-year-old was offended by Hwang Hee's sarcastic comment. Privately, he explained to his fellow dancer that Deok Chul is not treating ballet as his hobby but is passionate about learning the dance.

Lee Chae Rok Arranged Sim Deok Chul's First Audition

Chae Rok is secretly fulfilling one of Sim Deok Chul's dreams to perform on stage.

With this, he begged the studio owner and his ballet coach, Ki Seung Jo (Kim Tae Hoon), to help him. Initially, he disagreed and told the 23-year-old dancer that Mr. Sim is not yet a good dancer but later on caved into Chae Rok's request with one condition - he needs to pass the audition first.

Upon learning the surprising news, Sim Deok Chul was so happy that he constantly thanked Chae Rok for helping him and vowed to practice harder.

Lee Chae Rok Witnessed Sim Deok Chul Slowly Losing his Memory

The next day, Chae Rok witnessed a devastating moment of Mr. Sim.

He found him locked in the bathroom cubicle and crying to himself, saying, "you need to pull yourself together," as well as forcing himself to remember things.

"Navillera" episode 9 concluded with another emotional chapter between Lee Chae Rok and Sim Deok Chul.
