Confirmed! Krystal Jung, Cha Tae Hyun, and Jinyoung to Lead the Upcoming Drama ‘Police Academy'

After months of speculations, Krystal Jung, Cha Tae Hyun, and Jinyoung are slated to appear as lead stars of the upcoming drama "Police Academy."

According to a recent report cited by a South Korea-based outlet, the trio are confirmed to star in the new KBS2 series. 

Back in early March, rumors sparked that the said celebrities had been courted to join the cast of "Police Academy."

At the time, the singer-actress' agency H&Entertainment, revealed that the f(x) member has "received a casting offer" and was positively considering the project. 

As for the B1A4's Jinyoung, he was rumored to star in the new rom-com movie back in February after a representative from his agency, BB Entertainment, shared that "'Police Academy' is one of the projects Jinyoung is reviewing the offer to star in."

With KBS' latest announcement, other stars who will also be joining the trio are Yoo Young Jae, Hong Soo Hyun, and Seo Ye Hwa. 

Moreover, the 16-episode drama is scheduled to premiere sometime in July 2021, every Monday and Tuesday.

"Police Academy" depicts the lives of two contradicting persons, a veteran detective and a professor of criminal justice, who unexpectedly teamed up with a brilliant ex-hacking criminal to solve mysterious crimes on a university campus. 

The "My Sassy Girl" actor is set to take on the role of Yoo Dong Man, a criminal justice professor who had 20 years of experience in the police force. 

Meanwhile, Jinyoung will portray the role of the 19-year-old Kang Sun Ho, a skilled hacker who both lost his parents when he was 10-years old due to a tragic car accident. 

His life changed when he met Yoo Dong Man, who helped him enter the police academy. 

There, he met his fellow freshman, Oh Kang Hee, played by Jung Soo Jung, a.k.a Krystal Jung. She was described as the outspoken police cadet who is driven by justice and fairness by the law. 

Cha Tae Hyun Stars "National Bang Bang Cook Cook"

Aside from his upcoming rom-com drama, the 45-year-old actor, whose claim to fame is the box office hit "My Sassy Girl," has recently debuted his new cooking variety show "National Bang Bang Cook Cook."

The MBN show premiered on April 10 and was hosted by Jang Hyuk, Lee Sang Yeob, and Cha Tae Hyun.

As for the singer-actress, 2021 has been quite busy for Kyrstal Jung since, apart from "Police Academy," she will also star in the forthcoming movie "Sweet and Sour."

She will work alongside Jang Ki Yong, who recently appeared in "My Roommate Is a Gumiho" and "A Piece of Your Mind" actress Chae Soo Bin. 

Helmed by "Cheer Up, Mr. Lee" director, Lee Gye Byuk, f(x) 's Krystal will play the role of Bo Young.
