TV Producer Craig Plestis to Finally Bring "W: Two Worlds" to the American Market

The Korean entertainment industry is indeed expanding its horizon to promote top-tier contents to a wider audience. Adding to its growing popularity, another famous K-drama will be making it in America.

In a recent report, it was confirmed that the 2016 series "W: Two Worlds" will be having an American remake. TV Producer Craig Plestis teamed up with CBS Studios, which is also the company that produced some of the known english series, such as "Riverdale," "The Vampire Diaries," and "Gossip Girl," for a spinoff of the mentioned K-drama.

“W: Two Worlds” tells the story of a heart surgeon named Oh Yeon Joo, who is in search of her father, a famous comic book artist who disappeared without a trace. While in the middle of the search, she found herself living in two different worlds and met the main protagonist Kang Chul in the comic book that his father created.

This is not the first time that Craig Plestis brought a Korean content to the US. In fact, in the previous years, the producer also brought and introduced Korean TV shows such as "I Can See Your Voice" and "The Masked Singer" in the American market, which resulted in a remarkable success in the entertainment of America.

And to give you an update, "I Can See Your Voice" American version is already scheduled to kick off its second season and "The Masked Singer" is now on its way for fifth season.

Things to Know More about the Upcoming American Spinoff of "W: Two Worlds"

"W: Two Worlds" received various awards for its compelling content. Its unique story concept attracted more viewers inside and outside South Korea. The series was originally penned by writer Song Jae Jeong and helmed by Jung Dae Yoon. Hallyu stars Lee Jong Suk and Han Hyo Joo were the main protagonists of the said drama.

Craig Plestis will continue his partnership with Nahee Kim, the managing director of content and channel business at MBS America, to make the project happen.

As of now, there is no confirmation yet who will be portraying the characters of Kang Chul and Oh Yeon Joo.

This is another milestone for the Korean entertainment industry. "W: Two Worlds" is not the only K-drama to have an American remake. "The Good Doctor" that was produced in 2013, starring Joo Won and Moon Cha Won, was the first Korean series to have a spinoff in America.
