Girls’ Generation’s Yoona Joins the Star-Studded Cast of Upcoming Movie 'Happy New Year' with Han Ji Min, Lee Dong Wook, Kang Ha Neul and More
Girls' Generation's YoonA is on a roll this 2021 with her upcoming film "Happy New Year."
The singer-actress officially joins the cast of the romance drama alongside its powerhouse cast, including veteran stars Lee Dong Wook, Han Ji Min, Kang Ha Neul, Lee Kwang Soo, and Seo Kang Jun.
Helmed by "Windstruck" and "My Sassy Girl" director Kwak Jae Yong, the production reportedly commenced earlier this month and set to debut simultaneously in theaters and through TVING.
"Happy New Year" Movie Cast and Synopsis
Following the announcement, fans expressed their excitement on social media as the "Happy New Year" movie dropped their complete list of star-studded cast.
The soon-to-be-released romance film follows the lives of the owners and the clients of Hotel Mross, who each has different personalities and holds unique stories.
The "Goblin" star and the "Padam Padam" actress will portray Mross' owner and the executive hotel manager.
Lee Dong Wook plays the hotel CEO who lives with a huge obsession over even numbers, while Han Ji Min is his hotel manager who is secretly in love with his boss for almost 15 years.
Will she be able to confess her undying love for the Mross boss?
Meanwhile, the 2020 Baeksang Arts winner is set to play the role of a college student who has just had his heart broken by his girlfriend. To make things worse, he also failed the civil service examination for five years.
Seo Kang-Joon, who solidified his career with his breakthrough performance in the 2016 drama "Cheese in the Trap," will portray the role of a radio DJ turned singer/songwriter who managed to step up his career and is on the verge of becoming a star.
He will work together with Lee Kwang Soo as his manager.
As for YoonA, she will take on the role of a hotel concierge who shows extraordinary pride in her work.

Yoona 2021: Her Line Up of Projects this Year
It appears that the SNSD member is spending most of her time working with a long list of her upcoming work this 2021.
In February, multiple reports cited that the "Confidential Assignment 2" that stars Im Yoon Ah as Park Min-Young has just wrapped up their script reading session.
She is working alongside actors Hyun-Bin, who will play Im Chul-Ryung, as Yu Hae Jin, who is set to portray Kang Jin Tae, Daniel Henney as Jack and lastly Jin Sun Kyu as Jang Myung-Joon
At the time, CJ E&M managed to share the behind-the-scenes during the group's table reading.
It showed the undeniable chemistry between the cast as they go over with the story.
"The 'Confidential Assignment' everyone has been waiting for has started again!" the caption reads.
Apart from her two projects, YoonA is also confirmed to star in an upcoming film, "Miracle," together with Park Jung Min, Lee Sung Min, and Lee Soo Kyung.
