With Netflix Squid Game being the center of buzz, Lee Jung Jae talks about his adventures filming the K-series and spilling more behind-the-scenes secrets.

Premiered on September 17, the psychological thriller Kdrama, which stars the Chief of Staff actor, Park Hae Soo, Wi Ha Joon, and Jung Ho Yeon, achieved worldwide fame due to the intriguing concept that focuses on the children's themed survival game.

Four hundred fifty-six participants, whose common denominator is their ballooning debt, joined the competition in hopes of taking home the cash prize of a whopping 38 million USD or 45.6 billion KRW.

In the nine-episode series, Lee Jung Jae took on Seong Gi Hoon's character, a gambling addict with massive debt, and still lives with his mother.

To make things worse, his wife left him and is set to live with his daughter in the United States together with her stepdad. The situation prompted Gi Hoon to enter the game to give his daughter a good life.

Amid the continued popularity, Lee Jung Jae spills more fun facts about the mega-hit Kdrama Squid Game.

Lee Jung Jae Talks About Seong Gi Hoon's Red Hair

In the latter part of "Squid Game," his character dons a huge transformation where he dyed his hair bright red.

Fulfilling his friends' wish, he gave the cash prize to Cho Sang Woo's (Park Hae Soo) mother, who is now the guardian of Kang Saek Byeo's (Jung Ho Yeon) brother.

In his virtual interview with Star News, Lee Jung Jae spoke about Seong Gi Hoon's surprising change revealing that it "was originally in the script."

Moreover, the award-winning actor shared the true meaning behind his hair color, adding that he did not dye his hair permanently but instead wore a wig in the last scene.

"I remember talking with the director about why he had to have red hair. Red hair is a color an average man of Ki Hoon's age would never do. I think it was an effort to show that he was going beyond a certain limit."

Apart from the main characters, Netflix's "Squid Game" wowed fans with a slew of star-studded guests. Other than the Hallyu star Gong Yoo, award-winning actor Lee Byung Hun also played a brief yet significant role in the series. In the drama, he took on the role of The Front Man who overseas the whole game.

With this, Lee Jung Jae spoke about his friendship with his friend and co-star, saying that their connection is quite "unique."

Appearing in "Squid Game" is one of the rare occasions when the duo had a chance to work together.

Although the streaming giant and PD Hwang Dong Hyuk haven't officially confirmed the possibility of the drama returning for a sequel, the "Deliver Us From Evil" star says that he loved to work with Lee Byung Hun again.

"If there were a 'Squid Game 2,' I'd obviously want to work with Lee Byung Hun. Even if I can't come out in Part 2, I'd want to work together on another project."
