Because of this, when Doo Sik's past becomes unraveled one by one in front of them, Hye Jin didn't look at Doo Sik differently. Though hurt, her love and trust for the man never changed..

Doo Sik worked at a company as a fund manager, and became close to the company's security guard. Because of the trust the man gave Doo Sik, the security guard invested in the company, which eventually faced bankruptcy.

Crestfallen, the man didn't take the news well because all his money went to the company. He dreamed of becoming rich one day, and buying his son a nice suit for his job interview. But because of what happened, all his dreams were crushed.

Doo Sik blamed himself to the core as the security guard decided to take his own life rather than bearing a life without a future.

When he heard the news, he impulsively went to his car to drive his way to the poor man. However, his brother-like friend, Jung Woo, asked for his keys and offered to drive.

With the tension surrounding the car, the two didn't notice the truck that was coming their way, crashing onto it. Doo Sik survived but his friend was pronounced dead on arrival.

Doo Sik may have started to live anew with the incinerating pain and guilt. As Doo Sik cried, Hye Jin didn't leave his side as she wreathed him into a warm embrace.

All is Fair in Love and War

After years of war and exchanges of dagger-like gazes, Hwa Jeong (Lee Bong Ryun) and Young Guk (In Gyo Jin) finally understand where each other is coming from.

Despite the misunderstandings, the two ex-lovers decided to start with a clean slate.

However, their son Yi Jun (Ki Eun Yoo) feels overwhelmed by the sudden change and cries his heart out.

Worried, the two hugged their crying son. But to their surprise, Yi Jun was actually celebrating the reconciliation of his parents that his heart couldn't stop crying.

Hwa Jeong and Young Guk promised that they will never be separated again, and all three of them are going to live a happy life together.

On the other hand, Cho Hui (Hong Ji Hee) also wants to put her heart to rest, and finally confesses to Hwa Jeong. Cho Hui had been friends with Hwa Jeong and Young Guk for years, and unconventionally, the young elementary teacher developed romantic feelings for the woman who had been very nice to her.

Unbeknownst to Cho Hui, Hwa Jeong knew her feelings all along. But even though she couldn't reciprocate it the way Cho Hui wishes, Hwa Jeong clearly cared for her friend with all her heart.

Because of their heartfelt conversation, the eerie air and all the unsaid feelings between them became clearer and lighter.

Doo Sik Faces His Dreaded Past

Unfortunately, the son of the security guard in the company he worked for, and the cousin of the wife of his friend who died in the car accident were breathing the same air as him.

Writer Do Ha, who grew closer to Doo Sik over their stay in Gongjin, was the son whom the security guard loved, and producing director Ji Seong Hyun (Lee Sang Yi), his friend, is Jung Woo's cousin-in-law.

It is indeed a small world they were living in. However, all his tears and the guilt in his chest faded away as Do Ha and Jung Woo's wife opened their hearts to Doo Sik, freeing him of the pain he carried for years anyone could ever remember.

Although they didn't apologize for the things they said back then, the two forgave Doo Sik and themselves for what happened between them.

Doo Sik missed out on a lot of things in life but he was given the chance to live his life without regrets and guilt.

The Last Breath of Fresh Air

During Doo Sik's grueling stay in Seoul, his resolve was to take his own life. After being blamed for all the loss of his dearest loved ones, he thinks that being alive as Doo Sik is a curse.

However, his attempt to triumphantly misery was halted when Gam Ri (Kim Young Ok), the oldest resident in Gongjin, sends him a message of how she misses him.

When Doo Sik's family passed away, Gam Ri was there to support him financially and emotionally as a concerned adult.

Because of the old woman's treatment, Doo Sik adores Gam Ri, and loves her just like how he would love his grandmother.

On one fateful evening, when all the elder residents of Gongjin slept at Gam Ri's house, Gam Ri slept with ease and happiness in heart.
