‘Squid Game’ Creator Claps Back at NBA Star Lebron James’ Criticism on Drama’s Ending

The year 2021 is one of the golden years for the South Korean drama and film industry. Several films and dramas were recognized globally for their impeccable plot and amazing acting performances.

But one of the dramas that totally generated a lot of buzz worldwide is Hwang Dong Hyuk's "Squid Game," which starred veterans Lee Jung Jae and Park Hae Soo and rising stars Wi Ha Joon and Jung Ho Yeon.

However, some didn't like the plot and the ending of the drama. Reigning NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers Lebron James explicitly said he didn't like the ending of "Squid Game". Triggered, director Hwang Dong Hyuk replies.

Earlier this week, Los Angeles Lakers Lebron James and Anthony Davis were caught on camera conversing about the worldwide box office drama "Squid Game."

Many were repulsed by Lebron James' sudden confession, saying he didn't like the ending.

"Get on the flight and see your [redacted] daughter," the NBA star suggested, referencing the ending of the last episode of the drama.

Interestingly, the plot thickens as "Squid Game" director Hwang Dong Hyuk claps back at the NBA star through an interview with The Guardian.

Hwang Dong Hyuk, triggered, asked the NBA star, "Have you seen "Space Jam 2"? Lebron James is cool. He can say what he wants and I respect that. I'm very thankful he watched the whole series."

"Space Jam: A New Legacy" is Lebron James' most known film project, which came out earlier this year and received praises and attention.

"But I would never change my ending. That is my ending. If he has his own ending, then maybe he could make his own sequel to satisfy himself," Hwang Dong Hyuk continues, "I'll check it out and tell him, "I liked your drama, except the ending"."

The feud on the Internet entertained many. But all jokes aside, it's obvious that neither party is upset at the banters, but it does speak to the mainstream appeal of the show.

On the other hand, "Squid Game" is now officially one of the biggest and most successful shows on Netflix ever, even compared on par with "Game of Thrones".
