Japanese actor Tanaka Kei, who drew intense backlash earlier this year after being caught in an extramarital affair with actress Nagano Mei, was spotted this week competing at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas.
Photos published by Japanese outlet SmartFLASH show Tanaka seated at a poker table, dressed in a black bucket-style hat and large white mask—an outfit reminiscent of his previous attempts to avoid media attention.
The sighting comes just months after Shūkan Bunshun broke the news of Tanaka's alleged affair.
On April 19, the magazine published images of Tanaka and Nagano reportedly leaving the latter's residence and entering the same vehicle, their faces partially concealed by masks.
Despite the public fallout, Tanaka appeared undeterred as he took part in the prestigious poker event, which draws top international players and is broadcast throughout the United States.
According to reports, Tanaka placed third in the "$1,000 Super Turbo" event, walking away with over $115,000 in prize money—approximately ¥17 million.
