Park Hae Soo puts on the iconic mask for the much-awaited remake of Netflix's "Money Heist."

The streaming giant confirmed that the 40-year-old actor would take on the role of Berlin in the upcoming remake.

The news was announced over Netflix's official Twitter account, saying that he is among the lead stars of the highly anticipated series.

"​​Squid Game's Park Hae-soo will play Berlin in the upcoming Korean version of La Casa de Papel / Money Heist!" the caption reads.

In addition, the actor also shared a video as he talked about his new role.

Wearing a gray suit, Park Hae Soo wore the Salvador Dalí masks which symbolize revolution and national pride in the hit dystopian drama series.

In the video, the actor took off the iconic mask, showing a glimpse of his character as Berlin.

Created by Alex Pina, the popular Spanish heist drama follows the story of eight skilled who staged the biggest kidnapping crime after taking 67 hostages inside the famous Royal Mint of Spain.

The criminal mastermind, led by "The Professor" manipulates the police to carry out his plan.

First released in 2017 on Netflix, the series became an instant hit and blockbuster worldwide, sending fans into a frenzy.

Meet the Cast of the Korean Remake 'Money Heist'

Now, the streaming giant is gearing up for the highly anticipated remake starting with Park Hae Soo.

To recall, the 40-year-old star gained popularity after starring in the sports-themed Kdrama "Prison Playbook," however, his career catapulted to worldwide fame after landing the role of player no. 218 Cho Sang Woo in the record-breaking series "Squid Game."

This time, he is set to headline the cast of the famous series "Money Heist."

In November 2020, Netflix confirmed that they will release a remake of the Spanish series, directed by "L.U.C.A: The Beginning" PD Kim Hong Seo and penned by Ryu Yong Jae, who is behind the movie "Peninsula."

Following the confirmation, the streaming giant announced the cast line-up for the most-awaited remake of the year.

The heist mastermind, led by "The Professor" will be Yoo Ji Tae.

Meanwhile, the gang includes Jun Jong Seo (Tokyo,) Lee Won Jong (Moscow,) Kim Ji Hun (Denver,) Jang Yoon Ju (Nairobi,) Park Jung Woo (Rio,) Kim Ji Hun (Helsinki,) Lee Kyu Ho (Oslo,) and Jeon Jong Seo as Tokyo.

On the other hand, Kim Yoon Jin and Kim Sung Oh took on the role of Seon Woojin and Cha Moohyuk from the task force group while the hostages include park Myung Hoon and Lee Joo Bin.

According to outlets, the pre-production of "Money Heist" officially began on August 18, 2021, meaning viewers can expect that filming is set to start anytime soon.

Despite the new updates, Netflix and drama officials have not confirmed the release date for the upcoming remake.
