Without a doubt, the year 2021 has been a really great year for K-Dramas. Not only did these phenomenal series receive a high viewership rating, it also gained worldwide recognition and popularity, further enriching the television culture of the country.

However, backlash and criticisms are inevitable especially in show business. Some of these shows and actors were criticized for the storyline, cast members and even their past behaviors.

1. 'Joseon Exorcist'

First on the list is SBS TV's historical drama "Joseon Dynasty," which made noise after getting permanently cancelled even after airing two episodes and finishing 80% of its final filming.

Due to its distortion of Korean history, the audience viewed them as a misinterpretation of the past. It was also said that the drama was created without any historical basis.

On March 6, SBS TV's "Joseon Exorcist" was formally terminated after hundreds of thousands of people signed a petition to cancel the drama.

2. 'Snowdrop'

Jung Hae In and BLACKPINK Jisoo's first drama and recently premiered project has been continuously receiving flak for alleged historical distortion.

Before the drama proceeded to its post-production, "Snowdrop" already sparked controversy. The drama's summary aroused negative feedback from the public after it reportedly "undermined the democratic movement" in 1987.

After its premiere, more than 300,000 South Koreans signed the petition to terminate the drama. However, broadcast network JTBC released a statement and explained that the drama will make a lot more sense once the plot progresses.

JTBC also released three episodes during the Christmas season to ease the worries of the fans and the public. Currently, the highly anticipated drama is receiving quite high ratings.

3. 'Squid Game'

Netflix's top rating series "Squid Game" shook the whole world with its impressive cinematography, plot and cast. However, the series didn't only receive positive feedback. It also experienced being put under a bad light.

Due to its gory and horrific themes, many viewers want to not release it and deemed that the series is "not fit for broadcast."

However, the survival thriller drama became a huge success and in contrary to the issues, everyone loved the series, even anticipating its second season.

Kim Seon Ho Cancelling 'Cancel Culture,' Seo Ye Ji Allegations

It is a tough world, the South Korean entertainment industry. While you're celebrating the success of your recent drama, you don't know what will happen in the next tick of the clock.

1. Seo Ye Ji

To say that fans were disappointed about the actress' behavior is an understatement. Months after the success of her Netflix hit series "It's OKay To Not Be Okay" with Kim Soo Hyun, scandals chase Seo Ye Ji.

It was reported that the actress was a bully in school, and as an actress, some said that she abused the staff of the dramas she participated in. One of the huge controversies involves her ex-boyfriend, "Crash Landing on You" actor Kim Jung Hyun.

It was revealed that the actress forced Kim Jung Hyun into not having any physical interaction, as well as script changes during his drama, after being manipulated by Seo Ye Ji. With that said, Kim Jung Hyun had to seek medical help for depression.

Because of the news that broke out, Seo Ye Ji had been the talk of the town, and lost most of her projects and endorsement deals.

2. Kim Seon Ho

Another second male lead who rose to stardom after getting his first ever major acting role, Kim Seon Ho decorated the headlines after his ex-girlfriend dragged his name to dirt.

After the success of his rom-com drama "Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha" with Shin Min Ah, allegations against him being a manipulative boyfriend to his then-girlfriend broke out. His "Nation's Good Boy" nickname had been tainted after he reportedly promised his ex-girlfriend to marry her after aborting their baby to protect his career.

Because of this, major endorsement deals like Domino's Pizza pulled out their support for the actor. Kim Seon Ho was also removed from the production of his upcoming films and his long-running variety show, 2 Days & 1 Night.

Kim Seon Ho apologized and talked to his ex-girlfriend, which later that day, took back everything she said and clarified that she was just "carried by emotions."
