Thirty-Nine Episode 8 recap

Without a doubt, viewers of "Thirty-Nine" episode 8 cried buckets as they witnessed how harsh reality is for the beloved trio. March 17's episode delivered another round of surprises about Jung Chan Young's illness and relationship with Kim Jin Seok as well as the identity of Cha Mi Jo's biological mother.

'Thirty-Nine' Episode 8: One With The Family

The eight-episode titled "When You Think It's The End" began with a flashback during the trio's high school days. It highlights their relationship with Jang Joo Hee's (Kim Ji Hyun) mother, who at the time was battling colon cancer.

Joo Hee, Cha Mi Jo (Son Ye Jin) and Jung Chan Young (Jeon Mi Do) take turns to look after their friend's mother.

"Thirty-Nine," episode 8 focuses on their closeness with their friend's family.

Cha Mi Jo Bothered by the Truth

Back to the present, Cha Mi Jo was pretty much shaken up by the truth that Joo Hee's mother revealed to her.

To recall, the last scene in "Thirty-Nine" episode 7 showed that Joo Hee's mother confessed that she was Cha Mi Jo's birth parents. However, she seems shocked at the revelation; hence, Joo Hee's mother tells her to come to talk to her if she's ready for the truth.

The news made her flustered and prompted her to sleepover at her parents' house.

The next day, she randomly talked to her mother about raising and being loved despite not being her real daughter.

Her mother said a heartfelt message, "Although you never grew inside my belly I cared for you as if you did," which made her feel at ease knowing that her mother loved her dearly.

One of the highlights of "Thirty-Nine" episode 8 is Jung Chan Young's relationship with her parents.

After the trio's mini-celebration (since Chan Young officially got the part during the audition), she was surprised to get a call from her mother, who sounded furious. The same goes for Mi Jo and Joo Hee, who was told to go and meet her with their daughter.

At Jeong's restaurant, Chan Young couldn't believe how upset her mother was. She threw things at her and mentioned how foolish she looked, not knowing that her daughter was dating a married man.

Chan Young's mother was also furious at her friends for tolerating her with her illicit affair. Here, she got the courage and told her mother that she was terminally ill and had only months to live.

From furious, the vibe of the whole room changed to sorrow after her parents were extremely shocked with her revelation.

After Chan Young, another character who faces her fear is Cha Mi Jo.

Ready to know the truth, she meets Joo Hee's mother and is handed an envelope that contains her mother's address, which says "Yeongwol Prison."

Following this, she also mentioned it to her friends and told them that she wanted to visit her in prison, and so she did alongside Joo Hee, Chan Young and Kim Seon Woo.

However, Mi Jo looked like she was taken aback by the situation and started sobbing into their arms.
