Bae Doona No Show at Cannes Film Festival 2022 For THIS Reason
Despite having her two films selected at the Cannes Film Festival 2022, Bae Doona will skip this year's annual event.
The award-winning actress was invited to attend the prestigious gathering for her movies "The Next Sohee" and "The Broker."
Unfortunately, she was unable to attend the 75th annual Cannes Film Festival held at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès from May 17 to 28.
Why Did Bae Doona Skip Cannes Film Festival 2022?
According to Star News Korea, Bae Doona couldn't attend the Cannes Film Festival 2022 because of a conflict with her schedule. The 42-year-old actress is currently in the United States filming her upcoming projects.
As reported by the outlet, the film official shared that she is scheduled to join the 75th annual Cannes Film Festival "until the very end" but failed to attend because of her lined-up activities.
Bae Doona's New Movies 'The Next Sohee' and 'Broker' Invited at the 75th Cannes Film Festival
Weeks before the start of the film festival, the organization released a list of movies that will participate in this year's activities.
As noted by various outlets, "The Next Sohee," which stars Bae Doona, is selected as the closing film of Cannes Critics' Week.
Interestingly, this is a reunion project with the actress and director July Jung, who also helmed Bae Doona's movie "A Girl at My Door" in 2014.
In addition, this is not the first time that July Jung's movie was invited to the Cannes Film Festival.
"A Girl at My Door" was invited to the 67th Cannes Film Festival and had its world premiere in the Un Certain Regard section. Eight years later, the director returns with a thrilling movie.
"The Next Sohee" is about a high school student who has just started a part-time job. Unfortunately, an incident put her life in danger.
Meanwhile, detective Oh Yoo Jin, played by Bae Doona, was assigned to track down the person behind So Hee's case.

Adding to the list of the actress' multiple projects this year is her team up with Japanese director Koreeda Hirokazu for the film "The Broker," and set to premiere for the Palme d'Or category.

Joining Bae Doona, are the star-studded cast featuring singer-actress IU, Kang Dong Won, "Parasite" star Song Kang Ho and Lee Joo Young.
"Broker" depicts the story of mothers who had no choice but to leave their infants in "baby boxes." Meanwhile, "brokers" who are responsible for finding these babies their new family are being tracked down by police forces.
In the upcoming movie, Bae Doona plays detective Soo Jin who is focused on hunting brokers like Sang Hyun and Dong Soo, played by Song Kang Ho and Kang Dong Won.
Both "The Next Sohee" and "Broker" are Bae Doona's big-screen comeback after starring in the 2018 film "The Drug King."
