Ryeo Un To Possibly Lead Retro-Fantasy K-Drama 'Sparkling Watermelon'

On October 13, it was reported that Ryeo Un is considering appearing in the new K-drama "Sparkling Watermelon" (working title). In response to the news, his agency Lucky Company confirmed that Ryeo Un is being courted to play a leading role.

"Sparkling Watermelon" is a time slip through a mysterious musical instrument store by Ko Da, who has been living a double life between being a model student and a bandsman. It is a retro-fantasy story where the lead character meets his father of the same age as 18 and builds a good friendship during their unexpected journey.

Interestingly, the upcoming series will be penned by Jin Soo Wan, who is the creative man behind "Chicago Typewriter," "Moon Embraces the Sun," and "Kill Me, Heal Me."

In addition, "Mental Coach Jegal" director Son Jung Hyun will helm the drama. These two creatives will collaborate for the first time to produce another promising project next year.

Once the cast members are finalized, the production team will immediately proceed with the filming session with the aim to release the series in 2023.

Meanwhile, "Twenty Five, Twenty One" actor Choi Hyun Wook was also offered to appear in the drama. His agency Gold Medalist said that it is one of the projects that the actor is considering too.

Ryeo Un's Back-To-Back Projects

Apart from "Sparkling Watermelon," Ryeo Un is already confirmed to star in the historical-romance series "Flower Scholar's Love Story." The new heartthrob will join forces with Shin Ye Eun, "Little Women" actor Kang Hoon, and Jung Gun Joo.

The K-drama is set to premiere in the first half of 2023.

On the other hand, Ryeo Un is also working on Kakao TV's original series "Borrowed Body" alongside Park Hye Eun and "Today's Webtoon" actor Nam Yoon Su.

Ryeo Un previously appeared in the dramas "Through the Darkness," "Adult Trainee," "Homemade Love Story," "18 Again," "365: Repeat The Year," "Doctor Prisoner," and "Temperature of Love."
