Song Joong Ki to Portray North Korean Character in Upcoming Novel-Based Movie
Song Joong Ki is booked and busy in the coming year after the top star is set to headline a novel-based movie.
According to JTBC News, the South Korean heartthrob has confirmed his appearance in the film "Ro Ki Wan" where he will be playing an interesting role.
Song Joong Ki to Play North Korean Defector in New Movie
Based on the report, Song Joong Ki's new drama is a film adaptation based on Cho Hae Jin's novel "Meeting Ro Ki Wan."
Song Joong Ki's new drama depicts the story of a young man from North Korea who lives in the province of North Hamgyong.
The top star will play the titular role who is a North Korean defector and sneaks his way out of the country to Belgium. Due to this, a reporter tracks his whereabouts and a dramatic transformation is about to happen.
In the same report, "Ro Ki Wan" is set to start its production as early as the end of 2022 after Song Joong Ki finishes his movie "Hwarang" which he is currently filming.
As for the upcoming novel-based movie, the team is considering several locations overseas.
Interestingly, the idea of "Ro Ki Wan" launching as a film dates back to 2017. At the time, Song Joong Ki was the first actor chosen to play the titular role; however, due to schedule conflicts it was pushed back and was continued five years later.
The forthcoming film adap[tation will be Song Joong Ki's third movie project which is slated to premiere in the coming year.

Due to the delays brought on by the health crisis, the production of "Bogotá: City of the Lost" was postponed numerous times causing the premiere date to be affected.
Joining the top star as the lead cast are Lee Hee Joon, "The Berlin File" star Ryu Seung Beom, actor-director Jo Hyun Chul, and Colombian actress Juana del Río.
Adding to the list of Song Joong Ki's movies is the upcoming noir film "Hwaran."
The South Korean heartthrob has decided to participate in this project despite no pay to support the project's potential and artistic quality.
From the big screen to a K-drama comeback, Song Joong Ki will also return to the small screen with a revenge series "Reborn Rich."
What to Expect in Song Joong Ki's New Drama 'Reborn Rich'
Also known as "The Youngest Son of a Conglomerate," "Reborn Rich" will be Song Joong Ki's next drama series after the smash hit K-drama "Vincenzo."
Set to premiere on November 18, the top star will take on the role of Yoon Hyun Woo, who was reborn as Jin Do Joon, the Sungyang Group CEO's youngest son.
As a form of his revenge, Jin Do Joon plans to overtake the company run by Jin Yang Chul, played by Lee Sung Min.
Joining the duo as the lead character is Shin Hyun Bin who plays prosecutor Seo Min Young, also known as Sunyang Group's grim reaper.
