"Under the Queen's Umbrella" continues to face controversy after a historian expressed disappointment at the drama's accuracy.

According to an outlet, historian Jeon Woo Yong appeared in CBS' "No Cut News" where the expert pointed out the inaccuracies shown in the historical K-drama

'Under the Queen's Umbrella' Shows 'No Respect for History' Says Historian

The historian shared that the series is showing incidents that happened under the Qing Dynasty and not the Joseon Dynasty.

Calling it a "delusion" historian Jeon Woo Yong cited that it "could not have happened in the Joseon royal family."

"Since the start of the nomadic Qing Dynasty, eight princes have been fighting for the emperor's throne, which is similar to the setting of "Under the Queen's Umbrella" now," he explained.

In addition, the expert also called out the show, pointing out that the show "can play with history as a content material" but slammed the K-drama for showing "no respect for history."

In the 16-part episode series, where Kim Hye Soo plays Queen Im Hwa Ryung, her husband, King Lee Ho, portrayed by Won Young, has multiple concubines and princes eligible to be the cohort; however, the King has four grand princes, and the crown Prince who are the sons of Queen Im Hwa Ryung.

On the other hand, Queen Dowager Cho, played by veteran actress Kim Hae Sook, is not in favor of her grandsons with Queen Im Hwa Ryung and calls them as the palace's "troublemakers."

'Under the Queen's Umbrella' Episode 2 Accused of Historical Distortion

While "Under the Queen's Umbrella" episode 2 scored a 9.062 percent nationwide rating, which is the drama's second highest viewership yet, viewers criticized Kim Hye Soo's drama for featuring simplified Chinese characters.

It came after the drama featured the King's chamber, featuring a sign that reads "TaeHwaJun" in Chinese. However, it happens to be the name of a King's court located in China's Forbidden City.

Moreover, some viewers also noticed how the princes, sons of the concubines refer to the queen as "Your mother" when they are speaking with the grand prince, showing disrespect to the royal.

'Under the Queen's Umbrella' Garners High Viewership Amid the Criticisms

Despite the issues claiming that Kim Hye Soo's drama had historical inaccuracies, "Under the Queen's Umbrella" episode 4 almost hit a double-digit viewership rating.

According to Nielsen Korea, the fourth episode garnered a nationwide rating of 9.471 percent while 10.065 percent in the metropolitan area.

As the drama reaches its third week of broadcast, things get complicated between Queen Im Hwa Ryung and Queen Dowager Cho, especially the secret about her sons being exposed - from the Crown Prince's deteriorating health to the second grand prince's identity.

"Under the Queen's Umbrella" episode 5 is scheduled to air on October 29 via tvN and Netflix.
