Kim Min Ha Opens Up About the Difficulties She Encountered to Get the Role in ‘Pachinko’

Kim Min Ha recalled her casting experience for "Pachinko" during her guest appearance for tvN's "House on Wheels 4."

The breakthrough star captivates millions of hearts after she lands the role of Baek Sun Ja in the novel-based Apple TV+ series.

On the show, the actress spoke about the challenges she encountered to get the role in "Pachinko" which includes numerous callbacks.

Kim Min Ha Reveals Long Process of Casting in 'Pachinko'

As obtained by a media outlet, "House on Wheels 4" host and veteran actor Sung Dong Il expressed how amazed he is that Kim Min Ho was able to get the part despite not having an agency.

The actress shared that she first submitted a self-tape, followed by a video chat with the director and writer.

She then detailed the whole process and had to go through 9 rounds before she was officially casted.

"I auditioned online with the same thing, and the fourth time I only did a Zoom interview," she said, adding "Next was chemistry reading, chemistry with the male lead (twice).

For the eighth round, officials had to match her chemistry with Baek Isak, played by Steven Noh.

However, the process did not stop there. Sung Dong Il was surprised to hear that the actress met the director for casting in the ninth round.

For the "Pachinko" star she explained that "it was hard to meet that director."

As for the whole auditioning experience, Kim Min Ha said that it took her four months which she said she hadn't done before.

Despite the long process, the actress finds it "fun" adding " Every time I went, I thought about what to talk about today. The lines were so touching that not only the experience but also every word touched me."

Moreover, the 27-year-old South Korean beauty had "no regrets" going through all the challenges.

Will Kim Min Ha Return in 'Pachinko 2'?

After the massive success of "Pachinko," Apple TV+ announced in April that the novel-based series will return for a second season.

Creator-showrunner Soo Hugh tells Deadline that they are overjoyed after hearing that they will be "able to continue telling the extraordinary story of this indomitable family,"

Moreover, she expressed how " grateful" she is "to the amazing team at Apple and Media Res studio for believing and supporting the show."

In addition, Soo Hugh said that it is an "honor" to be working with the "amazing cast and crew" for the second time.

Although Apple TV+ has confirmed the renewal of season 2, it is still undetermined if cast members or actors from season 1 will reprise their roles.

On the other hand, Kim Min ha is selected to headline the upcoming movie "Pokro" with Lee Ki Woo, and Choi Hee Seo.
