In 2022, a slew of multiple projects that were centered on power and money dominated the small screen. Many works showcased the reality of life; as the saying goes, money makes the world go round.

'Little Women'

Kim Go Eun, Nam Ji Hyun, Park Ji Hu and Wi Ha Joon's "Little Women" topped the Netflix charts during its broadcast, and successfully captured everyone's attention.

"Little Women" depicts the story of three destitute sisters who find themselves in a situation where they fight against the most influential family in South Korea.

The Oh sisters grew up in poverty with aspirations as big as their dreams. When Kim Go Eun finds a bag filled with a billion of cash, her greed and ambition kicks in.

The drama focused on the power of money it has on people. It also emphasized why money is the most powerful thing in the world, and how it determines one's worth and happiness.

'One Dollar Lawyer'

MBC's "One Dollar Lawyer," starring Namgoong Min, became one of the most controversial series of 2022 due to many factors.

However, it's also a well-received work that boasts double-digit ratings. The series tells the life of an excellent lawyer who accepts only a dollar from his clients.

Nicknamed as the Sherlock Holmes of South Korea, he uses his skills and intelligence to fight the oppressor and take down the injustices that happen inside and outside of the court.

Although the series was consistent with its sensible and comical elements, "One Dollar Lawyer" still focused on its main moral and shows the inequalities, injustices and divisions in society.

'Golden Spoon'

Yook Sungjae's comeback drama "Golden Spoon" is also included in the list! The series follows the story of a young student who receives a golden spoon to change his mediocre and poor life.

Because of its fantasy and mystical factors, viewers first expected the series to be as light-hearted as other dramas but "Golden Spoon" managed to raise awareness and touch the hearts of the viewers.

The drama opened the eyes of viewers to the reality where society is clearly divided into two classes, the rich and the poor.

Yook Sungjae's drama also touched sensitive themes aligned with money. In one of the episodes, he loses his friend to suicide due to the piling debt of their family.

At the end of the series, he realizes to live a simple life and strives harder to reach his dreams with his blood, sweat and tears, realizing that his decision to accept the golden spoon at the expense of his freedom is less than his dignity and self-worth.
