South Korean actress Lee Seon Jeong has opened up for the first time about her brief marriage and divorce from broadcaster LJ, sharing emotional details about the difficult period that followed.

As per Naver, the actress appeared in a recent video uploaded to the YouTube channel Doctor Shin, titled "[Exclusive] 'I Wasn't in My Right Mind' Lee Seon Jeong's Unprecedentedly Honest Talk Going Wild in Front of Shin Jung Hwan." During the conversation, entertainer Shin Jung Hwan brought up the actress's widely discussed 2012 marriage.
"2012 was an unforgettable year for Lee Seon Jeong," Shin said, noting that even acquaintances learned about the marriage through media reports.
Lee and LJ registered their marriage after dating for only 45 days. However, the union ended roughly two and a half months later, surprising fans and industry insiders alike.
Reflecting on the situation, Lee admitted she still questions her decision years later, "Even now, I think, 'Why did I do that back then?'" she said.
According to Koreaboo, the actress clarified that the marriage was not prompted by pregnancy rumors.
"It wasn't a rushed marriage due to pregnancy. It was simply love," she explained. "At that time, he treated me so well. I think I was confused by that warmth." Lee also revealed that alcohol and an emotional gesture influenced her decision to marry quickly.
"I drank a lot the day before," she recalled. "He gave me a crystal gift for the first time from a man. Seeing that, I thought, 'This is the one.'" Despite the romantic beginning, the relationship quickly deteriorated. Lee candidly described the incompatibility between the two.
"Sometimes you get divorced because you just don't fit," she said. "Our minds didn't match, and our bodies didn't either." Following the breakup, Lee said she struggled emotionally and physically, turning to excessive exercise and drinking to cope with stress.
"Six months later, I developed panic disorder," she revealed. The actress described severe symptoms, including difficulty breathing, fear in crowded places and episodes where she felt close to collapsing.
"The hospital did an MRI and tests, but they said nothing was wrong," Lee said. "I could hear my heartbeat in my ears. My face would turn red, and I couldn't breathe." Lee added that she spent years regretting the marriage and continues to work on healing.
"I regretted it a lot for five years," she confessed. "Even now, I'm still working hard to overcome it myself."
