On December 30, Lee Jong Suk won Daesang at the 2022 MBC Drama Awards.
During his acceptance speech, the actor mentioned a special someone whom he respects and admires. According to him, after completing his military service, he had a lot of worries, fears, and troubles returning to the industry. But at that time, Jong Suk confessed that there was someone who helped and encouraged him.
He continued, "I want to use this opportunity to tell that person that I am thankful for always being so admirable, that I've liked this person a lot for a very long time, and that I respect and admire you greatly."

Due to his speech, Lee Jong Suk created a buzz speculating that he is dating someone.
On the morning of December 31, after multiple reports, Dispatch confirmed that the actor is dating Hallyu superstar IU.
Lee Jong Suk and IU's agencies also confirmed the news.

The famous media outlet, Dispatch revealed that the two stars have been dating for four months.
The K-drama stars met on "Inkigayo" ten years ago, and over time, their friendship evolved into romance.
It has also been said that last Christmas the new celebrity couple reportedly went to Nagoya, Japan, and spent the holiday together, where they enjoyed a three-day vacation in a luxury resort.
Lee Jong Suk is said to have planned the vacation. He accompanied IU and her younger brother out to Japan and prepared a pick-up service for them at the airport.
Meanwhile, based on a source online, the power couple's families and close friends are already aware of their relationship.
To recall, IU sang the celebratory song at Jong Suk's younger brother's wedding earlier this 2022, and the "Big Mouth" lead star personally invited IU's younger brother to join them during Christmas vacation.
