Song Hye Kyo's 'The Glory' Receives Flak

Netflix Korea's "The Glory" starring Song Hye Kyo enjoys its skyrocketing popularity not just in South Korea but in many other Asian countries!

"The Glory," which was released on December 30, 2022, centers on the story of a school violence victim who seeks revenge on her perpetrators by being their child's homeroom teacher.

The series stars Song Hye Kyo, Lim Ji Yeon, Lee Do Hyun, Park Sung Hoon, Kim Hieora, Cha Joo Young, Kim Gun Woo and Jung Sung Il. Just three days after its premiere, "The Glory" took the No. 5 spot in the Netflix Global Charts.

Apart from the great reviews, the Netflix series also received criticisms from viewers and critics alike. According to the experts, "The Glory" is "too graphic" and "triggering."

In particular, the scene where high school student Moon Dong Eun's (Jung Ji So) body is burned with a hair straightener is deemed to be too violent to be in the media.

The writer of the series, Kim Eun Sook, argues that she wants to depict a realistic story that raises awareness about school violence that is most of the time disguised as a "prank" among friends.
