Kim Jung Hyun's 'Kokdu: Season of Deity' Receives Criticisms

Despite his two-year hiatus, Kim Jung Hyun is still not warmly welcomed by some of the viewers.

Earlier this year, the actor announced his return to the small screen with the romance drama "Kokdu: Season of Deity" opposite actress Im Soo Hyang.

It's a fantasy romance drama that depicts the fateful meeting of a grim reaper who punishes humankind every 99 years and a woman who has a bizarre ability.

In the series, Kim Jung Hyun will play the dual role of Kokdu, the underworld deity and Do Jin Woo, a physician who looks exactly like him.

"Kokdu: Season of Deity" marks Kim Jung Hyun's comeback after the string of controversies that surrounded him in 2021 regarding his attitude and relationship with Seo Ye Ji.

Despite the actor's reflection and break from the limelight, much negative feedback arises in the entertainment scene.

It seemed like the public wasn't fully ready to welcome the actor back to the small screen. However, the production unit will still push through its premiere regardless of the feedback.

Through Kim Jung Hyun and Im Soo Hyang's acting chops and intense chemistry as co-stars, the producers are certain that the couple will be able to win the public's hearts over without fail.

'Kokdu: Season of Deity' K-drama Details and Premiere Date

Apart from the duo, MBC's forthcoming rom-com drama also stars some of the familiar faces in the South Korean industry.

Singer-actress Kim Dasom and Ahn Woo Yeon join the cast as the second lead couple, and Kim Jung Hyun and Im Soo Hyang's respective family members.

The two, like the main couple, are expected to decorate the small screen with quirky romance and lovely chemistry.

In addition to that, veteran stars Kim In Kwon and Cha Chung Hwa also participate to strengthen the work.

"Kokdu: Season of Deity" will consist of a total of 16 episodes. It is helmed by directors Baek Soo Chan and Kim Ji Hoon, who guarantee a great watching experience this January.
