As "Pachinko" season 2 officially began its production, this veteran actor from Netflix's "Kingdom" is confirmed to be joining Lee Min Ho in the sequel. Can you guess who this celebrity is? 

'Kingdom' Actor Kim Sung Kyu Joins 'Pachinko' Season 2 Cast

Kim Sung Kyu, who impressed many with his strong acting in heavy dramas is named as one of the confirmed cast members of "Pachinko" season 2. News 1 stated in their report that the actor will join Lee Min Ho in the upcoming second installment of the series. 

Since the drama is already gaining attention ahead of its release, viewers are already excited to see how the story will unfold in book 2. People are also curious about who among the Korean stars are making their participation in the drama. 

Though Kim Sung Kyu's role is not yet revealed, fans are now looking forward to his performance and how will character make an impact in the story. 

A short introduction to Kim Sung Kyu, he made his acting debut in 2011. He played a detective in the 2014 movie "The Con Artists." The actor was able to land roles in the movies "Tunnel" and "The Outlaws."

His recent movie was "Hansan: Rising Dragon" where he played the character of Joon Sa. Aside from movies, Kim Sung Kyu also expanded his career and screen presence by appearing in multiple series such as "Kingdom" seasons 1 and 2. He also starred in tvN's "A Piece of Your Mind," "One Ordinary Day," and "The King of Pigs."

Meanwhile, thanks to his strong impression through the Netflix series "Kingdom" and Coupang Play's "One Ordinary Day," Kim Sung Kyu became familiar in the eyes of the public. 

'Pachinko' Season 2 Update: Lee Minho Flew to the US to Start Filming the Drama

Based on the best-selling book of the New York Times of the same name "Pachinko" penned by Korean-American Lee Min Jin tells the story of unforgettable chronicles of war, peace, love, separation, victory, and judgment, that all started with forbidden love. 

Original cast Lee Min Ho, Yoon Yeo Jung, and Kim Min Ha will reprise their roles. They rave in popularity in Korea and abroad following the release of season 1 in 2022. 

Since the production already announced that they will begin filming in the first half of 2023, the drama's lead star Lee Minho already departed Korea for Canada last February 16 (Korea Time). He is about to embark on a new journey in his career this year. 

Upon his arrival, the actor immediately updated fans and shared some photos of his photos showcasing that he is enjoying his time abroad.
