Kim Gun Woo Shares He Almost Plan of Quitting Acting

He gracefully portrayed Son Myeong O in Netflix's original series "The Glory." Thanks to this project, Kim Gun Woo immediately rose to stardom. His Instagram followers began to increase, from 2,000 he now has more than 160,000 followers on SNS.

The actor also mentioned in his interview that even if he wears a mask and goes outside, still a lot of people recognize him. 

However, until Kim Gun Woo appeared in "The Glory," he spent most of his days contemplating of quitting acting.

Before he entered the busy world of show business, the actor finished first his degree at the Korea National University of Arts Theater School. He even became the top performer in his batch. After that, he made a splendid debut in Park Seo Joon and Kim Ji Won's rom-com series "Fight for My Way." But after his first drama, Kim Gun Woo experienced a lot of hardships and even got nervous in auditioning. 

'The Glory' Gives Kim Gun Woo Hope to Continue His Acting Career

According to the rising star, "When I went to auditions, I always went with confidence. But sometimes, it is not the case. When I meet actors with a higher reputation than me, I get intimidated and wonder if I should continue acting." 

Kim Gun Woo humbly shared the turning point of his career. He was living on the previously saved appearances fees, rerun fees, and expenses paid by the company, and his agency asked him to audition for writer Kim Eun Sook's work. Since the brilliant author had no expectations, the actor tried his luck to audition. 

Originally, he received the scripts for Jae Jun, Do Young, and Myeong Oh's roles. After learning that his character didn't know that he was a villain, Kim Gun Woo found it attractive and immediately grabbed the opportunity to get it. 

Fortunately, he got the role and felt good while filming "The Glory." Gun Woo admitted that he even received an advance payment from the company to take care of himself. And he made sure to pay it back. 

"The Glory" gave Kim Gun Woo a moment of 'glory' in his life and career. The scene-stealer was able to overcome the challenges that came along his way and is now known as one of the most promisin stars in the acting industry.
