Lee Byung Hun Becomes Guest Speaker at Stanford University

On April 19, the "The Future of Hallyu: Korean Film on the Global Stage" conference at Stanford University was held. Among the special guest speakers was none other than "Mr. Sunshine" actor, Lee Byung Hun.

At the conference, the K-drama star gave insights about Hallyu and his personal and professional experiences working in the field for more than a decade.

As his speech began, the "Our Blues" actor said that in choosing a project he paid more attention to the characters - before.

However, after gaining experience, he began to consider the script as more important.

Lee Byung Hun Regrets Not Joining the 'Parasite' Cast For THIS Reason

Someone from the participants asked him if he ever regretted refusing a casting offer. Lee Byung Hun then revealed the movie offers he regretted not accepting, such as "Parasite," "Decision to Leave," and "Old Boy."

He then explained the reason, "It was because I already had the schedules for other projects at that time."

Meanwhile, regarding his criteria for selecting a work, the award-winning actor said that feelings are very important.

He said, "I tend to like the emotions and feelings I get right after reading the script are interesting."

'Mr. Sunshine' Actor Receives Praise

Lee Byung Hun received praise from the audience for answering most of the questions in English. The actor shared that he studied English at the academy during his second year of high school.

According to him, he never received any English lessons in Hollywood.

He made the crowd laugh by saying that to prepare for the event, "I had spent two months straight-studying English for the first time in my life."

As his speech continued, he didn't differentiate between dramas and movies, but Lee Byung Hun shared his thoughts about the expanding popularity of K-stars abroad.

"The development of the OTT market has created great opportunities for Korean actors."

Meanwhile, Lee Byung Hun is preparing for his comeback movie "Concrete Utopia." He also has another booked film, "The Match."
