IU, a South Korean singer and actress, has talked about her long-running relationship with comedian Park Myung-soo and why he has been apologizing to her for almost 20 years since they first met.
The news came out during a recent episode of the web variety show "Pinggyego," where Yoo Jae-suk welcomed IU and actor Byeon Woo-seok as guests. The talk went back to IU's early days in show business and how she met Park for the first time in a way she didn't expect.
The talk brought up IU's appearance on the popular show Infinite Challenge, where Park was a regular cast member. Koreaboo says that the event happened in 2009, when IU was still a teenager and a rookie.

Before Yoo talked about what happened, there was a neutral introduction. He said, "This is something I always talk about whenever I see IU. It's just a moment I can never forget."
He then discussed the performances that were going on at that time. He explained, "Back when we were filming Infinite Challenge, during the 2009 duet song festival, Jessica and Myung Soo hyung performed 'Naengmyeon,' which became very popular."
He went on to discuss how IU got involved in a later show. He spoke, "After that, Myung Soo had to perform on another stage (the 2010 guerrilla concert special), but Jessica couldn't attend due to her busy schedule. That's when IU came in as a guest to sing Jessica's part."
xportsnews says that IU's first meeting with Park didn't go very well because he seemed to brush it off. Yoo remembered the moment in great detail.
Before talking about how Park reacted, he said, "So Myung Soo hyung was like, 'Who is that? Bring Jessica! Bring Jessica!' And IU was only 17 at the time, so I thought she might have been hurt. But when I looked at IU, she just had this expression like, 'Yeah, whatever. It happens.' And she didn't lose her confidence at all. That moment has stayed with me."
IU thought about her personality at the time in response. She said anything, "I mean, even when I was younger, I wasn't really the type to get discouraged easily."
Yoo's explanation of what happened in the years after made the story funny. He said, "Since then, Myung Soo hyung apologizes every time he sees IU."
IU confirmed the pattern that was still going on in a lighthearted way. "Yeah. He's been apologizing for nearly 20 years now. Park Myung Soo is such a kind person."
The outlet said that even though things started off badly, the two entertainers have since become close friends and often show up together and joke about the story. It also said this story is a common example of how first impressions in the entertainment business can change.
