IU Shares Health Update After Being Diagnosed With Hearing Disorder

IU gets honest and bravely talks about her health progress, updating fans with her current situation months after she was diagnosed with a hearing disorder. 

Following her two day solo concert at the Seoul Olympic Main Stadium, the idol-actress confessed that she is receiving treatments for her health issues. 

During her concert, she confessed that she was having "a slight problem" with her ear, which made her "very nervous while preparing" for her performance. 

Besides the shocking confession at the concert, IU also shared in a documentary that she has been dealing with it for over a year. 

She went on and mentioned how her ears were "a little bad" because of the disorder.

"My ears open on their own, so my hearing is similar to how you hear when yawning," she detailed, adding, "When I hear myself sing, it becomes too loud and rings."

Interestingly, IU says that she is feeling a lot better these days. 

IU's Ear Condition: 'Dream' Star Shares Health Progress to Fans

In an interview by a local media outlet, the top star was asked about her health condition after being diagnosed with an ear disorder. 

IU mentioned that her condition "has improved a lot," adding, "In fact, it was already a lot better, but a heatwave came that no one expected."

Moroeber, the singer-actress, also mentioned that being in humid weather, especially when she sweats a lot due to the temperature, is not good for her health.

Despite the unforeseeable circumstances, she made sure to find ways to get treated and look after her health.

According to some outlets, IU's health condition is called patulous eustachian tube dysfunction.

As explained by Standford Healthcare's official website, a part of the ear, which is called the Eustachian tubes, doesn't close as it should.

"The open tubes carry voice and breathing sounds from your nasal cavity to your middle ear that can be very loud," the post reads.

In a different website, it says that the cause of patulous eustachian tube dysfunction is still unknown; however, symptoms include muffled hearing, ringing or buzzing sound, feeling the need to clear the ear, and feeling the pressure change in the ear when breathing in and out.

The interview comes ahead of IU and Park Seo Joon's new movie "Dream."

Scheduled to hit the big screen on April 26, the sports themed film is directed by Lee Byung Hun of "Extreme Job," "Be Melodramatic" and "Twenty."

IU plays producing director Lee So Min, who teamed up with Yoon Hong Dae, played by Park Seo Joon, for a documentary. 

She sees Hong Dae's team as an inspiration since it consists of amateur players who want to dominate the Homeless World Cup. 

On the other hand, Yoon Hong Dae is a once-famous soccer player whose career turned upside down after a controversy. 

Due to this, he has no choice but to accept the offer as the head coach of the dream team.
